People pointed out that Trystane goes with Jaime and co onto the boat to go to Kings Landing at the end of S5 while the sand snakes stay behind. But suddenly tonight the two sand snakes were on the boat with Trystane (:

This p. much sums up my thoughts better than I can:

http://time.com/4306039/review-game-of-thrones-season-premiere/

I was most engaged by the Davos storyline and wanted to see how that got resolved but...nothing. My biggest complaint is that almost each scene brought us exactly where we knew the storylines would be slightly nudged based on the trailer. But the Castle Black stuff was the worst of it. They showed that clip that we posted a few days ago from episode TWO! And that clip was exciting and I was waiting for it to happen but it didn't. I don't know WHY they would show a clip that far in the future because now we just spent the premiere still waiting to get to that point which made things kinda lackluster. Seems like a weird move to me

As goofy as The Walking Dead gets I feel like they get premieres dead on compared to game of thrones. TWD makes their premieres EVENTS which they should be after all the hyping the show's do, where as GoT always feels a bit recapy and underwhelming after the long wait. All GoT premieres have been like this but it's a shame to have to get used to the premiere quality being low

The Castle Black scenes were probably my favorite too (mostly thanks to Davos) but it was p. frustrating having seen the clip from episode two. The clip shows Davos and company in the room with Jon and some other stuff starts happening, so anyone who watched it knew where that storyline would end up by the end of this first episode. Only we didn't know it was from episode two, so for the scene to be set over the premiere just to get to a scene we've already seen was kinda silly

And yeah Brienne showing up outta the blue to reunite with Sansa was way too fast. Theon/Sansa scenes trying to survive on their own for a bit would've been good

I feel like there's no happy medium. Brienne spent all of last season IIRC wandering around trying to find Sansa, finally finds her but she doesn't want her help, and then spends the rest of the season doing it all over. They stretched it out way too long because they seemed to have nothing else to do with her, and then to correct it they just rushed things to start the season and forced them together at the most convenient of timing. They need a blend of the pacing
