I'm excited for this. If it's anywhere close to how good S1 of Daredevil was then I'll be happy. Sounds like it is too | |

I really like the teasers I've seen.
As someone who hasn't actually seen anything from Marvel (I know, get on that), would it be okay to watch this as a stand-alone until I can go back and watch all the movies? |
Watch this and Daredevil and FUCK THE REST!
Iron Man is good tho. But yes they're not related

P. good premiere. It wasn't anything mindblowing like some reviews suggested but it got better as it went along and I'm sure the series will too
Ritter is good so far. Kilgrave's presence was creepy and great. Tbh I completely forgot it was a superhero show until a little bit into it (: . It wasn't until she jumped up onto the fire escape the first time when I was like oh yeah...she has abilities. Probably the point tho |

I don't wanna spend too much time comparing this to Daredevil but it's hard not to tbh. At this point in Daredevil I was wayyyy more enthralled in the characters/story. By the end of episode three..
|
We had the great fight scene at the end of episode two with Daredevil really becoming a hero. And at the end of episode three, the assassin guy impaled himself through the eye on the sharp piece of fence. That said/did a lot more for the story than these characters in JJ so far. I just watched the part where she fights the police officer and the family of three. By the third/fourth time a family member ran at her wielding a candle stick, it was kinda laughable and already played out. Killgrave's powers are frightening but I really hope they do more with it and come up with some more twisted stuff. Turning people into drones and Jessica having to disarm them and not kill them is kinda fucked up sure, but I'm not feeling it right now. Maybe I'm just not a fan because the direction of the fight scenes are kinda meh compared to Daredevil's which were consistently great |
I also cared a lot more about Matt's relationship with Karen, Foggy, and his dad at this point than I do about Jessica's with Luke, Trish, etc.
Other than that everything has remained on par. Episodes 1/2/3 are all pretty even for me. I'm waiting for something to happen that really elevates things to the next level |

Up to episode 10
|
It's gotten a bit better the past few. The episode at Jessica's old house was one of the better ones and all hell breaking loose with Killgrave killing his mom and escaping was exciting
So glad Hope is dead. I thought the actress was awful and the characters' presence bogged down the show. I also thought the support group breaking into Jessica's house and attacking her was one of the dumbest things I've seen in a show

Finished
|
Not too bad overall. Not to compare too much but I'd definitely rank Daredevil high above this, it was just far better made and acted overall imo
Killgrave was great from start to finish and Tennant was the best part of the show besides Krysten Ritter. I wish he'd have gotten a bigger or more iconic death, or really gotten to flex a ton of power at the end by creating a lot more chaos but oh well, the idea of him taking Trish as his new Jessica was twisted enough to work and make up for it
I'm guessing Simpson is becoming some character from the MCU that I don't know about? That all seemed pretty random. I thought the actor's delivery was so weird at times but I just saw that he's got this strange Australian accent IRL which kinda explains it. Malcolm was the same way and it turns out he's also Australian
Seeing Claire from Daredevil was cool but I really wished we got to see Daredevil himself in a cameo. Claire took up a surprising amount of time for a finale too
I sadly just never got thaaaat into this. I didn't feel a huge attachment to many (any??) of the characters or the story. I still liked it and I'll watch S2 |
