The game we were talking about in the other thread. Ended up buying it on a whim. Wiki info:
|
Life Is Strange is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix. The game's plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The game will consist of five episodes. With six weeks between each episode, it released its first on 30 January 2015. Life Is Strange is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 via digital distribution. |
A Telltale like game with rewind/butterfly effect gameplay sounds really intriguing. I'm real interested to see how well that works. Gonna play as soon as it installs

Finished the first episode
Great game! Nice visuals and music, and the time reversal mechanic is sweet and should continue to get really interesting. The worst part is the dialogue. It's predominately about 19 year old girls so they all say "hella cool!" and TOTES and all that terrible shit all the time. The writers seem to have no idea how teenage girls really speak......tho teenagers DO speak like that I guess (: . NOT THAT MUCH THOUGH
It's pretty heavy on nostalgia which I liked a lot. The character stuff is done well so far and I'm really curious how all the decision making turns out. When you make a choice or any sort of action, even if it seems like a tiny one, text pops up and tells you that it will have consequences. It's hard to tell what the consequences are gonna be, they're often not very immediate
My choices if anyone else ends up playing (you should):
|
- Reported Nathan
- Made fun of Victoria while she was down. FUCK HER!
- Intervened and helped out Kate
- Took the blame to cover for Chloe |
EDIT, good review: http://kotaku.com/you-should-play-this-episodic-supernatural-high-school-1682653682

To those of you who were bummed that Telltale's TWD2 had less opportunities to walk around and interact with the environment, this game has tons. There's plenty of stuff to look at and comment on which is nice
You also spend a lot of time in places where you grew up but haven't been to in awhile, so the objects you interact with bring back memories and help develop the characters. It's well done
Also there's a Breaking Bad easter egg right at the start

Otherwise I feel like stuff like reversing time to prevent yourself from breaking Chloe's snowglobe is kinda pointless. Like who wouldn't do that? |

can you imagine if Telltale used an engine like this? That'd be amazing. Especially for GOT, I'd love to be able to explore all the environments to this extent |
That'd be great. One of the best parts of this game is how detailed and authentic the environments are. GoT/TWD could really use it

I completely missed the bird thing. What happened?
I love how easy it is to miss stuff, makes reply a lot more fun. When I finished I immediately traveled back to poke around some more

Good stuff once again. I really enjoyed it
I made all the same major decisions. Told Kate to wait, answered her call, tried to shoot Frank, saved Kate, blamed Nathan. I also didn't shoot Frank at first but liked the other outcome more
The rooftop part was great, really intense once they took the rewind away from you. That'll definitely be a major part of the game like you said. Max will rely on the rewind too much and once it's taken away from her something terrible will happen
I was pretty anxious while talking to Kate on the roof. They did a good job of showing that one false move or response would end in her death. I imagine if you didn't answer her call and erase all the shit then she might've jumped sooner. I had NO idea what the answer to her family member question was and got that wrong, I thought she was gonna jump. I didn't know her bible passage either but I guessed and got it right, thank god. I do a pretty good job of snooping around rooms too, but now I'll definitely be sure to do better in the future
- Didn't water the plant
- Helped Alyssa. Someone throws a roll of toilet paper at her head KC, like right at the start. You just tell her to move
- Friendly with Taylor
- Erased the link
- Wrote Max was here
- Accepted Warren's invite
- Missed the Vortex Club Party thing, I didn't check out that hallway enough
- Helped Warren. Once I found out the answer I told him to add a shitload of potassium hoping that it would blow his face off, but then I rewound
- Told on David
HOORAY for another episode ending character montage. My favorites |

Oh sheeeeit YOU LET HER DIE?!?!?! You monster. I'm glad one of us did though, I'm excited to see how the game continues with or without her. I hope it's not a cop out and she dies on us automatically in the next one *COUGH*DOUG/CARLEY*COUGH*
And nah I had no problem with the bottles. I was scouring that place just to interact with anything so they came to me pretty easily |

I love the little moments in this game where it gives you a chance to sit down for a bit and contemplate things/listen to the music |
Yeah lol, I was gonna mention that. Those are some of my favorite parts. I loved it especially in the first episode when you sit and stare at the wine stain on the carpet and reminisce
Sometimes I don't even realize right away that I have to press something to stand up because I never mind sitting there for a bit (:

what'd you answer for the family member question? In hindsight I would've picked sisters because mother seems like too obvious a choice, but it was my immediate reaction in the heat of the moment |
|
|
Brothers. Sisters seemed too obvious to me too. Now I really wanna poke around her room more to see what I missed |

I answered father, which I believe is the correct response.
In her room there is a nice little post card from her father giving her support and showing how much he loves her and Max notes how nice he seems. In contrast, there is a nasty e-mail on her computer from her mother condemning her for the video. There really isn't any mention at all of her siblings, though there is a family photo and iirc, I don't think she even has brothers (: I might be remembering that wrong. |
|
|
I said brothers and she was like, "YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ME AT ALL!" oops!
But then she said it was her sisters. Maybe sisters and father were both viable options? |

Did you erase the link off the bathroom mirror + the shit on her whiteboard? Max mentioned those to her and it calmed her down. Kate kept saying how positive our relationship was so I think I did everything right with her until it got to that question, she took a step closer off the ledge when I got it wrong. And then it asked me the bible verse question and I lucky got that right. I think she definitely would've jumped if I didn't |
