Because I can't stop watching new shows lately
I realized tonight that my new amazon account came with free amazon prime which came with free amazon video streaming. One of the shows on there was The Americans. I've always wanted to check it out so I just watched the pilot
Good stuff! I love the concept and the era and I'm excited to learn more about it from this POV. The idea of telling this story through the eyes of two KGB agents...THE ENEMIES!!..is pretty cool. Kinda daring I think. I wonder if they'll paint the CIA as the antagonists or if they'll keep you rooting possibly for both? I imagine they'll try to make it pretty grey. Should be cool to see it play out
The two main characters and actors are great, and I love Noah Emmerich
Who else watches? I'm probably gonna binge since it's not long and then get back into Orphan Black

The ending of episode one with..
|
The husband hiding in the garage with his pistol, while the CIA agent was snooping around. That shot/reveal that the husband was there the whole time was so good |

Episode two was good, with the cleaning lady and the clock. The fight with the uncle was pretty intense. So was the pillow scene

Good shit. I didn't know Derek Luke (Gregory) was in this. He's great and it's sad that he hasn't been in much stuff lately from what I've seen
I saw that the show's creator says the show is ultimately about marriage. This episode proved that the most of the three I think. It's a really unique concept. Having two people forced into marriage who have to pretend they love each other, and now they seem to just be falling in love for the first time after 20 years of "marriage". Cool stuff
I had a feeling 'Granny' would end up killing the guy's wife. The reveal of the baby shipped up to Russia was good. How dark |

Midway through episode six
|
Four and five were real good. With Elizabeth killing the security guard and then the nervous KGB guy. And now they know there's a mole
Reason why I'm posting now is that I immediately recognized this interrogator as STEVE HAINES from GTAV! Kul
Also, this has gotta be fellow KGB just testing to see if Phillip or Elizabeth would break/are the mole |

The scene where Phillip learns Elizabeth sold him out about wanting to defect was great. It complicates this weird relationship even further. Really good episode |

This one was good. The hitman's death in the motel, the explosion that killed the scientist and FBI agents, some great stuff with Phillip and Elizabeth's relationship, and Chris somewhat catching onto Martha (or is he just very creepy?)
I think Chris is gonna end up finding something out for sure |

Damnnn. Definitely one of the better ones this season
RIP AMADOR! :( . He was a fun character. Sad to see him go. I liked how him and Phillip bumped into each other briefly at Stan's party
Stan killing Vlad at the end was really good. Stan's gonna go down a DARK road I think! |

RIP GREGORY! :( . This show is dropping BODIES! Hate to see Gregory go. I love the actor and the character was great. His final stand was pretty good though. Figured that'd be the case once they picked up his associate (CURTIS!) |

ohhhhh men. Shit's getting real
Phillip proposing to Martha is so fucked up. I have no idea if he plans on just using her then killing her (and her parents?) or if he's actually gonna go along with it and stay married to her. Either way is fucked
I've been really interested to see how Nina's story unfolds. I thought she'd end up being caught and killed by the Russians and Stan would feel guilty as fuck. I didn't think she'd end up being a triple agent
And now Stan has two really shitty sketches of Phillip and Elizabeth. Fun stuff |

I've always wondered. How does Phillip's wig never fall off when he's having sex with Martha? (: . NO HAIR PULLING, MARTHA?! When the KGB picks Phillip up, the agent pulls off his wig with ease |

Season one finale
|
Pretty good. The set up was INTENSE! And the car chase that followed. I thought for a second that Phillip was gonna have to hit Elizabeth with his car (to injure, not kill) in order to prevent her from reaching that car. That would've been nuts
The final scene was pretty good. It was only a matter of time before the kids would start to get a bit suspicious but we haven't seen any of that so far. A pretty good lead in to the second season |

I didn't even think there'd be a thread for this!
Honestly, with most dramas I'm usually bored by the romance/marriage plot, I hate the kids, and the relationships is never written to be balanced. I think it's handled so well here that other shows are juvenile in comparison. Everyone is so likeable.
Roland Emmerich is awesome. |
u mean noah (: . Roland's a director
