This is an idea that we've kicked around since the start of FE so it's time to finally get it going. Back on FI, we had a subforum dedicated entirely to LOST. We filled it to the brim with tons of different threads about each episode that aired and the series in general and it was great

SO THE QUESTION IS...should we bring that to FE with different popular shows? The only ones I can think of right now would be Game of Thrones and Survivor. At first I just thought GoT and Breaking Bad but that's over, but I recently just realized that Survivor is a perfect candidate for this nowadays

The subforums would probably just be within General Discussion instead of on the main page. I'm pretty confident that having them would promote a lot more discussion about those shows. There's been a few threads that I've wanted to make about Survivor for example but I don't wanna clog up General with it, so this is a perfect solution. Like for Survivor, anyone might be more motivated to create threads while they rewatch seasons, make threads to rank seasons or players, and make discussion threads for each new episode as it airs. For Game of Thrones, people can make polls to give each episode a rating like we did for Lost, characters can have their own threads, and episodes that air can be 'live posted' about etc. YOU GET THE POINT

What do we think of this idea? We can branch out to any other shows that are popular enough to warrant their own subforums, but GoT and Survivor are the main two that I thought of for now. Anyone who might not like those shows can simply avoid the new forums and won't have the various threads cluttering up General anymore. WIN/WIN

Oh yeah TWD could have one. GoT and TWD would probably get one later on when they're being discussed again but that could still be good

I'd be down... walking dead too. Maybe a movies and videk games subforum too?

I'm not sure about movies/video games getting their own personally. Only because a great chunk of General is about movies/video games so it might just suck too much discussion from General

We did have THE FLAME on FI. That split General into two parts really, one for random stuff and the other for entertainment (movies/tv/video games). We could do that again if it's wanted and have both on the main page. I could go either way on that

Just had another idea. It'd be kinda cool to make new skins for these subforums. A Survivor themed skin with buttons, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead etc as the default of each forum. I've liked each of our recent skin specific forums. COULD BE FUN

PASSED! I think I'll make the Survivor forum for now and the GoT and Walking Dead ones closer to when those shows come back on, unless people want them now. Let me know

Maybe I'll set up another poll for the General/Entertainment forum split soon. My admin pals might wanna weigh in on that one at least

Survivor isn't on right now either!

That's by far the one that's getting the most off-air discussion right now though. I can still make GoT/TWD if we want it now

Would it be possible to have a new season reminder thread? There are shows I want to catch when they start again (like King of the Nerds) but it's too far out to set the dvr which means I will totally forget about it until someone posts they watched it.

You know what'd be kinda cool for this, if we started using the calender feature more. We used to do it for Lost and added a reminder for each upcoming episode/new season premier. We did it a few times for Breaking Bad as well

It's simple to make a calender event and it pops up above the cbox where birthdays are. Real easy to see. Would that be good? It's probably better as a reminder than a thread

On second thought I don't see any reason not to make TWD/GOT forums now too. The point is to promote more in depth discussion about them outside of the one show thread, so they might as well go up now. WILL DO

I've been wanting to make threads in GD about various games but held myself back cause I didn't want to clutter up GD with something I could just stick in the Games we recently play thread.

Yeah this is dead on really. The specific subforums should encourage so much more discussion I feel
