The Flock hasn't worked together in years. Not since...that day. But fate has pulled the old crew back together again for one last job - your biggest score yet. It won't be easy and tension in the group remains at an all time high. Can you pull this off and fly the coop in time? Or will your goose be cooked? Welcome to....Silly Geese!
Silly Geese is a "play by post" ttrpg that will take place entirely in this thread. The game is inspired by what's known as one page RPG's - entire RPG systems that have their rules scaled way down to fit onto one single page. They are often stupid and rules light and roleplay heavy. This will be no different.
You will be playing as a handful of silly geese ex-bandits and burglars pulled back into the game for one last job. The vibe is Ocean's Eleven/Saul Bass/Coen Bros movies. You can be expert conmen or you can be bumbling goons who have no idea how doomed they are.
Gameplay will be very simple. This will be a roleplay heavy/collaborative storytelling game. This will not be your average dnd game where you roll dice and have to wait for me to resolve your action. This is a game where the players will intentionally put themselves in bad situations, betray each other if they wish, even kill themselves off or get themselves arrested if they really want. The point of this game is to tell a goofy, cinematic story, not to "win". The players will have (mostly) full narrative control and should have fun with it. This won't go on forever and will end when we reach a natural conclusion at the end of the case
I need somewhere around 5-8 players I'd say. Could do more if there's interest, I'll adjust the rules as I get an idea of the player count. I need people who are willing to do two things:
1. ROLEPLAY! This "game" is a story. You'll be expected to create chunks of your own story as you go and will be expected to read each other's. You won't be writing essays, don't worry. But you also won't just be showing up to post "in character" and react to things like a LAB or ATTWS game, you'll have to post chunks of narration where you come up with the story (mixed in with posting in character).
2. ACTIVITY! I don't need you to be posting around the clock 24/7, but the game will flow a whole lot better if you can do more than check in just once per day. Ideally you will check in when you can, catch up on the story your fellow players have helped create (should really not be that much reading, less than a regular mafia game), and post a segment when you have a chance. If you sign up and don't show up, that will hurt the game quite a bit!
You will not have stats and combat will not really be a thing (unless you make it a thing). Story beats will be twisted and resolved by players rolling dice, taking the result (good, bad, or mixed), and assigning that dice to another player's chunk of the story. This will be explained more in depth as we get going, but it'll be very very simple and hopefully fun.
If this sounds fun, keep reading. Sign ups and character creation below!

"You son of a bitch, I'm in."
To pull this off, you'll need a team. If you're interested in playing, you need to make your character. Here's what I need from you:
Name: (your character's name!)
Appearance: (what you look like, from the color of your goose to what you're wearing)
Backstory: (tell us a little something about yourself)
Role: (your role in the crew. leader. hacker. muscle. safecracker. master of disguise. rookie. driver. conman. pickpocket. etc)
Signature Item: (one item you always have on you when you pull off a job)
Image: (edit the photo of the goose above to match your character)
If you wish to play, sign up below by posting your character (or reserve a spot for now by just posting your name). You must take the goose image above and decorate it however you wish, change the color, dress it up in clothes, whatever! Go wild. Then fill in the blanks above. The Role part has a bunch of examples listed, feel free to choose from those or come up with anything that you might find genre appropriate. Pay attention to what others choose and just try not to pick the same-ish thing.
More info about your character will be determined (collaboratively!) after sign ups are over so no need to go overboard with backstory or anything during this part, your call!
tldr: Who wants to play?

The crew is assembled! But before we begin, we must now dive into the relationships between crew members
The six of you have worked many odd jobs together over the years. Some of you knew each other before getting into this line of work together, some of you met on the job. With some dice rolling and an open discussion, we're gonna define these connections further
Your job is to come up with a relationship between you and the person on either side of you (based on sign up order). That's Rose-Christian-Zersch-Boc-Mal-JJ and then JJ-Rose
Everyone roll 2d6's as soon as you can, that'll give you two numbers. Compare your numbers to the chart below. Whoever wants to kick things off can assign a relationship CATEGORY to either the person on the left or right of them. Then, that other player can take one of their numbers and choose one of the SPECIFIC relationships under that category. The two of you can then flesh things out in here and discuss the details of the relationship based on what was rolled.
For example. If I'm Rose and I roll a 6 and a 3, I might decide that Rivals seems interesting and apply the 3 to myself and Christian. If Christian rolls a 2 and a 4, he can choose to either apply the 2 to "Informant and the person they ratted on" or "playful frenemies". If he thinks informant sounds more interesting and picks that, him and Rose must now determine which of the two was the informant and which was ratted on and the messy history behind that story. If that's the case, Christian has to save his unused 4 for his relationship with Zersch, either applying the 4 to the Category of the Specifics (unless Zersch has already made the category choice for him!). Once you use a number, it's gone
Roll asap and start making your selections. Don't be shy when assigning a category on either side, you don't need the other person's blessing! Just go for it.
Flesh out the details together as thoroughly as you'd like. Even comment on relationships you aren't involved in and toss out ideas for them if you'd like, this is all collaborative. Once we're all set with this, we'll move onto the story and the case

Oh also you have to put one number on either side, you can't put both numbers on one side and fully define a relationship yourself

If I'm doing this right, I want to give Boc the category of Rivals. |
You got 4 and 6 which means it's gotta be either Work or Random! Rivals is a 3

Woops, thought I picked the category then they chose from the two numbers underneath. Back to the drawing board. |
All good, you'll pick the category on one side and the specific on the other side (once that category is picked by the other person)

kinda confused but here goes
Rolled: 9 (5+4) [2d6] |
EXAMPLE! 5 is Prison, 4 is Work. You have four options rn:
Prison with Zersch
Prison with Mal
Work with Zersch
Work with Mal
If Zersch had already picked a Category for you and him, you would have to pick either Prison with Mal or Work with Mal
Once your category on one side is all set, use your unapplied number on a Specific within that category

I'm too high for this fast paced Goose action. |
Maybe THIS was the ill-fated job that went wrong in the prologue
