Meh! Wanted to like it because of Raimi. Liked the Raimi bits we got, some obvious and some fun subtle stuff straight from his Evil Dead days. But much like whenever the MCU got their hands on any other good director they just MCU'd right over their style for the most part
A shame because this really could've worked. How is a movie called Multiverse of Madness this dull lol. I'll forget almost everything within the next four hours. Why not take RISKS! They had an endless playground, but instead we went to a multiverse where red means go!!!!! jajaja! They really dumbed the concept down for their audience
The cameos were fine, but I got spoiled on Krasinski and Professor X was horribly wasted. I guess I get why they spoiled him in the trailer now lol, if they left him as a surprise and he still had this little to do it would've been pointless
I find myself compulsively rolling my eyes at a lot of the MCU more and more lately, probably starting with WandaVision. And strangely, most of it here was at Wanda and her dialogue. She had two lines that were like, "I'm not deranged, I'm a MOTHER!" or something. Bad!
A shame because Olsen is great, and I kinda like that they just went full unhinged Wanda here but obviously they don't have the guts to commit to that for more than 90 minutes. Almost wish they just said fuck it and made her the new big bad of the MCU
I kinda just don't like powers that let the hero....do literally whatever they want. It cannn lead to some cool stuff but it's not for me, and unfortunately Wanda and Strange are the two best examples of that kinda hero so this wasn't for me. I like when there's SOME "rules" or limitations to their abilities, like we all know what Spiderman can do (dumb Stark gear aside!) so it's fun when they get creative with physics and momentum during fights and you can track it. Instead of just hurling swirly lights at each other that can do literally anything. Boring
Also is it just me or is MCU cgi lazy af lately? It looks kinda..not great. Visually I was more impressed with the Lightyear trailer beforehand
Saving grace: Bruce Campbell. PIZZA POPPA! My dad and I are forever Campbell fans and were hoping for a cameo. Best post-credit scene in MCU history ez
