Greetings!
After finishing Deadwood Boc and I wanted to watch another classic show "together". Candidates included The Americans and The Sopranos but we went with.......Battlestar Galactica!
We're gonna try to stay on pace with each other more or less and chip away at it. First the miniseries, then the four seasons and those two mini movies or whatever that they did
Disclaimer, my dad loved this show so I caught a handful of episodes as they were airing but I forget the details, I do know the broader strokes of the series though unfortunately. I also watched the first season and posted my thoughts somewhere on FE years ago but then abandoned my watch cause I got busy or something. Excited to finally binge through it properly
Okay that's all goodbye. Thoughts to come

Miniseries pt1

I loooove the setup. The opening scene with the cylons finally showing up is such a great way to start a show. It was immediately super intriguing. The title card that said something like the day finally came where they overthrew their masters etc was really good. I love the whole premise of the show in general with their old antique ship making it through and having to really step it up since they're all some of very few survivors, good stuff
They do this very specific kinda shot where you see a ship flying through space from a distance and then they do a very quick punch in on it, I really like whenever they do that
And yeah the sfx haven't held up super well but eh! What can you do, it was great at the time iirc. Some of it still looks p good sometimes. The sets look good too
Also the music is great, I like it a lot
Baltar and Number Six are both immediately very intriguing. And Edward James Olmos is p great. Excited for more

With my dad I used to watch Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and BSG back to back to back when they were first airing on the Sci-Fi/SyFy channel. Mostly was watching for Stargate, but BSG was great, too. |
This is exactly what I did with my dad but I would only see eps here and there. I never cared for the other two but BSG always interested me

Miniseries pt2

Good stuff. Good twist at the end with Boomer which I already knew ofc. I remember the main plot points from my first s1 watch years ago but not a ton of details
Love the twelve cylon model setup, its great. And I love the fact that some are sleeper models and don't know they're cylons. The group shot of multiple versions of each of them at the end was great
Wont be able to get enough out of the Gaius/Number Six theme. Gaius is the most intriguing character for me
Time to get into the main show |

You’re right Cart, Boomer is a brutally bad actress
Sam Witwer! I always like him
iirc the intro changes after this ep going forward and it’s for the best, I didn’t like this intro at all but I like the regular intro that they start doing. I like the music they play while they’re showing upcoming clips. And I like how fast the clips go by so you aren’t really spoiled on anything
Good ep! I liked the 33 minutes/no sleep concept. They were making ME tired!
Intriguing ending with AltBoomer and Helo |

Hellll yawww there’s that intro. Love the title cards. “Some of them are programmed to think they are human” is great. And in red! How ominous. “And they have a plan” to end it is also great
Oh I see there’s the title cards and then the recap and THEN the intro and THENNNN the upcoming clips. Woweeeee
I like that Gaius goes to this lake house sometimes in his mind. Nice change of scenery
lol Captain and Boomer just openly talking about her finding the explosives with everyone walking by them
Maybe it makes sense that they made the most wooden actress into a robot
Fine ep overall |

I do like how the show feels episodic so far. First ep about no sleep, second about finding water, third about the prisoners. I forget if the rest of s1 is like that
This lead prisoner played Apollo in the OG show. Richard Hatch! Died a few years ago rip
I don’t like Callie very much
They do a good job shooting Caprica scenes, feels so eerie and empty there. And feels weird after being on just ships for so long, kinda like Gaius’ lake house scenes
I really hate that little kid who got into the Galactica. A lot
Fine ep. I liked Richard Hatch’s character in it, even tho the standoff was solved a lil too quickly. I do like the politics/election angle though and Apollo holding Roslin to her term
I kinda love Tigh, what a hardass curmudgeon |

I read back and found out why I stopped watching this after s1 years ago - I started Mad Men at that time and got addicted

I actually thought I remembered Sam Witwer being the one who died in the accidental explosion. So that was a surprise!
Ooo Adama doesn’t know she passed Zach when she shouldn’t have. Dramaaaaa
Ooooooo now he knows
That photo of Starbuck & Zach with Apollo three feet away is so awk. Get outta there Apollo!
Oooooooooo Adama’s pissssssed
I hope Hotdog dies. I hope Starbuck passes him knowing she shouldn’t and then he dies
Oooooooooooooo a To Be Continued |

Tricia Helfer is.....whew!
I love how fucking weird they make Gaius when he snaps out of these sequences. Everyone thinks he’s such a freak
The toast is gonna pop up and give you away Helo!!!
I knew it
I like that the Cylon ships are “living”
I also like that Adama and Thigh and Apollo and Roslin are always beefing somehow
Imagine if Hotdog didn’t get the message that it was Starbuck and then finished launching and shot her out of the sky. That’d be so funny |

Love the way Helo is like a rat in a maze to the three cylons during these scenes. Literally looking down at him at all times
I really like the political decision convos most of the time. Like this one between Adama and Roslin about the pros and cons of telling the public that Cylons can look like humans. That's a HEAVY choice! Literally no one would trust each other anymore. Interesting decisions and dilemmas like that are the shows strength so far imo
Wow get your stories straight you clowns
I don't like the Quartermaster, not one bit
I like the shots of Number 6 behind the medical curtain. Also a cool shot when they're walking together through the ship and she vanishes and hes left talking to himself
Another great shot of Gaius looking like a fucking weirdo in front of that guard
Damn Adama flexing that CLOUT! The look on the Quartermasters face
Semi Boomer centric ep Cart! Wahoooo! |

Baltar and Number Six centric, helll yawww. Love the opening twist with her actually being present, that’s fun. I forgot all about that part
The smash cut to Adama on the phone warning against Number Six after she kissed him was great
Boomer sux per usual
Loved the awkward Baltar/Gaeta bathroom scene
lol’d at the photo enhancing tech. It’s literally the worst reflection ever and then it becomes picture perfect |

I talked to Boc and it seems this will just be Curt Watches Battlestar Galactica going forward :(
I'm probably gonna pace myself and chip away at it over time. Ill at least finish s1 and then decide it I wanna continue from there

I just find streams of everything on questionable sites
Looks like it’s on Peacock if you have that?
