Huh.
I think I really enjoyed Mia Goth & though Alexander Skarsgard did well, but I don't know if I liked the movie itself.. Kind of fell into the bad parts of artsy fartsy movies for me. I also just feel like I didn't care about any of the characters at the end of the day? I wish they touched more on the concept of him trying to figure out if this was the REAL him or a copy of himself, I thought that concept was really interesting. I know that was the underlying concept but I feel like it just kind of.. lost the plot for a little bit in the middle. I'm not sure. Can't say that I loved her! |

perhaps a product of its time? have you ever been on youtube and accidentally stumbled across what is clearly a strangers personal youtube page that should surely be unlisted but you go and watch their 11th grade English project in which they do like a little skit about the catcher in the rye or something? thats kind of what this felt like. it was like a sadistic after school special. somehow hard to stomach AND incredibly boring. crazy to think this was the genesis of (beloved) wes craven as a director! |

I've spent too many hours letting men explain five nights at freddys lore for me to act TRULY uninterested in animatronics. |

Spy kid dick, neocolonialism, and clown makeup oh my!
this movie opens up with the r slur and anorexic jokes and just keeps up with that level of discomfort pretty much the entire 103 minute runtime. the movie has literally 50 minutes of exposition and 53 minutes or stomach turning gore and nonsense. It pained me to watch this. Im not a huge gore fan unless its super campy and silly and this was just nauseating. Loved the part when randomly Alejandro said 9/11 was an inside job. Overall really hated it. :) I was gagged that only like half of the cast got to put their twitter handles in the credits. |

☆☆ watched: 7/24/2022
I like the special effects on this, the goop went crazy. i think they did a really good job at setting the mood and getting you invested in the world, but kind of lackluster from a character perspective. and way too much telling not showing, but not offensive! possession is my fav subgenre of spooky scary movies and this one fell kind of flat. its no jennifers body.

BIG MEH!
First.. I don't care about cops, I'm so sorry to them. But also this felt like a horror movie geared more towards people who are like.. casual horror movie watchers. Not that I'm trying to be a movie snob about things but it was just very like.. basic jump scares. A lot of which didn't really make sense with the plot or anything? I dunno. It just felt like cheap scares on a low budget to the extreme. A story that could have been a quick Youtube video dragged out to be a whole hour and a half movie.. UH OH!!! Overall.. I thought it had spooky moments but none that made me think "Wow, this is a good movie!" |

WE (hesitantly) STAN THE TEXARKANA KILLER! I feel like the story of this one is SO wild and pretty similar to the Zodiac that it always has me gripped. The movie itself wasn't the most scary or anything, but I enjoyed the hotel chase scene? They all just felt kinda short.. Which is fine but I feel like most of the movie was them just learning stuff about The Phantom when I.. didn't really care! I am kind of anti hero-researching-the-killer core in movies, and this movie was pretty much all of that outside of some stray kills. But all in all, I thought it was fun despite the killer reveal at the end which I thought was.. mediocre at best! |

“I am one of the legion of the dead!”
Good stuff. Ends up being different enough from Rosemary's Baby by the end. Loved the sequence when she encounters the blind man. I remember seeing that shot sometime when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me, had no idea it was from this movie til it happened.
Happy bday to Jessabelle, looked like a great party
★★★½ pretty good!/well executed
