The screen that shows up to tell you to silence your cell phones always lasts a little too long at my theatre, it's always awkward and the music in the commercial sort of swells and then the sound cuts out and the picture is still on the screen.

I can only assume they are like, "we can see you guys have phones out you can't do dat."

so every time I always Hold my phone up and make exaggerated silencing motions to be like "THere I did it gimme my fuckin movie" and sometimes it works and it cuts out quicker... but it could be a coincidence.

Captain America: The First Avenger

Iron Man 1 and 3 were the only Marvel movies I have actually watched. Since people were crazy for the second Captain America movie I feel like I have to see all of the other movies before watching it, so this was my first step. I liked it, didn't love it. Though I did love Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull.

Her

Thought it was great. Best love story since Lars and his creepy Real Girl. When she reveals that she's in love with however many other people I could only picture him pulling a Dante from Clerks and telling her to try not to suck any dick on her way through the parking lot.

Her and Lars were both really great. Have you seen Lost in Translation?

No I haven't - I'm guessing that's a recommendation to put on my list?

YES SIR! Her/Lars are way way quirkier, but a lot of Her does remind me of it. It's really great

I loved Her, it was my favorite movie of last year. It had a lot of really funny moments like the "dead cat" scene, but also had a lot of heartfelt moments, and the ending shot I thought was really sweet. It definitely belongs in the same category of movies as Lost in Translation and I'd throw Eternal Sunshine in there as well. I really enjoyed Lost in Translation but it's definitely not for everyone. A lot of it is eye-candy and you have to be in the mood for something with not a lot of plot/dialogue. I also feel compelled to mention that the movie opens with a shot of Scarlett Johansson's panty-clad ass, if that tempts you to watch it.

Oh one comment about Her, though: why did they let Joaquin Phoenix have that terrible pedostache for the movie?

Lost in Translation

Went ahead and watched it - really good. Kind of embarrassed I didn't watch it until 11 years after it came out. P. emotional. Even though there were a few scenes, it could have used a tad bit more Scarlett Johansson in her underwear imho.

lol that was fast. Definitely one of my favorites. I love Bill Murray in it so much. And the setting and karaoke scene and the ending whisper and song. Everything about it

I rented it pretty much as soon as you recommended it. I've never wanted to go get drunk in Tokyo more than I do right now. I liked the shitty zany talk show that he went on. Also I hate his family so much even though I only heard their voices.

Any other movies you all can think to recommend that are sort of similar? I've seen Eternal Sunshine.

Might be one of my all-time favorites as well, but it's been a few years since I last watched it and I'd need to see it again. It's a gorgeous movie to just look at, and the music compliments the visuals so well.
