Are you applying to be a cashier? If so, then sure, I think that's a fine thing to put in your cover letter.

im applying for an on campus job at the college im attending and working in the testing center/proctor.

They are making you put together a cover letter for what is essentially a work-study position? What kind of crazy college do you go to?

The fact you know what a cover letter is probably gives you a leg up on the rest of the applicants.

literally for every position they are offering you need a cover letter. You could apply to be a cleaner (Actual position offered) and need a cover letter. it's so stupid
