This girl I was dating a few months ago had me order a pizza for dinner, which was pretty rad as I hated everything she cooked. Then once it came she proceeded to pour an entire fucking bottle of ranch on it. Fuck ranch. God fucking dammit.
my mom is moving today and i got out of helping to move boxes since i'm working. Might see if i can stay longer so i don't have to do a thing. Moving is the worst
It's your mom, ffs.
she has moved literally no joke 5 times in the last 2 years plus when I moved after I was done school. SHE NEEDS TO STOP
she sounds unhappy. take her out to dinner and let her talk.
Below is a picture of a typical suburban driveway.
Note: The driveway, while short, qualifies as a road as it's primary use is for vehicles. Also note the use of an apron (or "driveway apron") on the front which allows access from the main public road onto the driveway, which is on *private* property. If you disagree that this is a driveway, then you basically disagree with everyone I have ever had experience with across the country, which means your opinion is the minority opinion.
Otherwise, are you with us so far? I know this is difficult stuff to understand.
Next, given the discussion was about restaurants, I have provided this helpful overhead shot from my own neighborhood to illustrate what Ape said that caused you so much confusion and dismay, much like Sir Topham Hatt on the Isle of Sodor. I know this part may be confusing, but instead of a taco place, I chose a McDonalds instead, since it had the features required to explain to you the concepts that have escaped you thus far. If it helps, there is a Mexican/Salvadorean on the next parcel indicated by Abi Azteca Grill & Bar, but I chose not to use it for the example, as it does not include a drive thru. They have fantastic tacos, though.
Anyway, here is the overhead shot:
Columbia Pike is a major public roadway through Arlington, VA. The McDonalds sits on, surprise, *private* property. Thus, allowing for a public setback for the sidewalk, the public/private separation is shown below, with the yellow showing the private property and the blue hashmarks indicating public roadway:
I hope I am not going too fast.
Now, you will note that the definition that has been put forward multiple times to you is that a driveway typically is a private "road" that connects access to a public road. As shown in the residential picture, this roadway can be quite small and barely support a single vehicle, but the primary definition has it connecting public road to private structures or land improvements. Such structure can be defined as buildings, parking lots, etc., - and I am more than happy to debate the use of land improvements such as parking lots and the like.
Anyway, using the simplest definitions, the minimum portion of the property shows that would be referred to as a driveway is marked in blue below. Note: This portion includes a "driveway apron" similar to the residential one we saw above. The orange hashmarks indicate parking lot, though the argument could be made that the driveway is all portions of the parking lot designated for being driven upon rather than parked. I'll leave such argument for a later thread. The McDonalds has a drive thru, which is indicated in green. You can see in the original image that the drive thru has a lane that start near the driveway apron- thus the large size of the "drive thru".
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?
Cactus won't admit that driveway functions as a definition for all property and thinks it should only be used for a roadway connecting a house to a cottage house on your property. Also, if 90%+ of the rest of the population uses a term a certain way but it is different from his understanding, it is a "colloquialism" in his eyes.
I'm waiting for him to argue "What is this thing you call a doorway? It's a portal, dammit!"
