Rise of the Planet of the Apes - woah that was really good! I liked how even though he was involved in the actions against the apes, Franco's character was still basically good, and that he and Caesar could love each other even on opposite sides. It was so well-paced too, just getting to the point where the cruelty was becoming hard to bear before making it a REVENGE FLICK. CGI was a bit spotty at times but a lot of it was really FLUID ( (: ) and substantial. Caesar's facial expressions in particular were amazing, very good at expressing sadness.

Dead Set
Not a movie, but a five-part British miniseries about a season of UK Big Brother taking place at the same time as a zombie outbreak. I've had it on my external drive for a while but never got around to watching it until now thanks to Big Brother being back on the air to get me in the mood. I thought it was really cool - at first it seemed like it was going to pull a "Syfy original" because it felt like it was relying on jump cuts instead of really showing anything, but it was just a slow build. Plus a Big Brother house is a pretty funny setting for a post-zombie-apocalypse survival story to be set in.

Snowpiercer
When it first started getting mentioned around here I wanted to watch it but never got around to it. Then I started hearing more and more people talk about it, ranging from "movie of the year" to "what this is so dumb what's with the fish?" I'm sure it's not movie of the year by any stretch but I really enjoyed it and thought it was thoroughly weird and an interesting concept to wrap around a class warfare movie. I kind of wish there had been more train cars with even crazier atmospheres, but I guess the classroom and rave train car were weird enough. I feel like I need to watch it again sometime soon because I had a few questions, but figure maybe a second viewing would answer them. Fun.

Monsters University followed by National Treasure. I remember watching National Treasure with my dad when it came out and he kept pointing out the location inaccuracies during the parts where they're in Philly.

I'm behind. You're all watching new movies. I just watched Contagion for the first time. lol It held my attention, but I feel like nothing really happened? And still, I'd watch it again I think? The cast was enjoyable and the acting was good.

Me too. I generally only go to the movies once or twice a year. I usually gave to wait until they air on premium channels or on demand etc. | Domo Arigato Paco Roboto
