I got to play this for 5 mins the other day at my sisters. I lassoed an innocent farmer and dragged him around with a horse for a while. Fun times. |
Today I lassoed a man who tried to steal my horse and dragged him next to a grizzly bear. Then I watched him die. It was great.

Major spoilers ahead in case you clicked this by accident or quoted this for some reason.
FUCK!
Well, I was hoping to slow down a whole lot towards the end game and focus a bit more on other stuff. I was going to do one more story mission before focusing on hunting legendary animals and getting some more sweet pelt clothes. Then... turns out to be Arthur's final mission! DAMN!
Coming into this game, I did not expect Arthur Morgan to survive to the end. RDR1 already set that bar by killing John before the game was over (matter of fact, that's almost become a TRADITION in Rockstar games) and Arthur was not mentioned AT ALL in the first game, so it was safe to assume he was dead. I was still absolutely not ready for this. And I'm so sad that Arthur died alone on a mountain and Micah was able to get away from him unscathed. I was also absolutely HEARTBROKEN at my horse dying. We had been through so much together!
I was anticipating switching to John or Charles once it became plainly apparent that Arthur was dying towards the end game. I would have been happy with either, but I'm still unbelievably pained that I can't be Arthur anymore. I'm gonna miss him so much :( Shoooooore.
If anything, this game really fueled the hatred for Bill, Javier and Dutch in the first game. I felt pretty neutral about them when playing RDR1 since we didn't get a whole lot of details over why John hated those men so much. It felt more like an errand to get his family than actual redemption against men who betrayed him. In fact, I LIKED Dutch in the first game a whole lot and used him as my avatar for online. All the callbacks to his speech on the mountain before his death were brilliant, I loved that his catchphrase was "I have a plan" when John mocked him saying that same thing before he died. "You always have a plan, Dutch."
I'm still only at 77% for story missions which puzzles me and why I felt "safe" enough to continue playing as Arthur a bit more, even though the game was spelling out the end with everyone leaving camp. I do LIKE that, seemingly, we're going to get a bit of game time with John before the inevitable mission to kill Micah and his men. And this is a much better contrast than RDR1 was which was basically "You're Jack Marston now, go kill an elderly Ross and then enjoy lol" which I kind of hated and didn't give me much satisfaction.
RIP Arthur. I honestly can't believe Charles made it out of there alive and I am really hoping that paves the way for us to be able to play as him either in DLC or RDR3. Great character. I'm very curious about a few things though... what happened if I went for the money instead of staying with John? And what about my honor? I know from Fallout that your karma plays a huge part in the ending of the game, so what does it effect with Arthur's fate? I had max honor when he died so... I'm curious what would have happened of the spectrum was different, if anything? Because quite honestly, I didn't notice a difference at all when playing the game. People who remembered me from story mission shootouts still gawked at me and called me awful even though my honor was maxed. So... /shrug. Think it's gonna be a long awhile before anyone is caught up to me and can discuss this very important issue since I decided to breeze through like a moron. :leos: |

Finished chapter 3 last night, RIP my sleep schedule, overslept this morning but it was worth.
|
Holy shit those last 3 missions were awesome, the missions so far have been good, but those three turned it up to eleven.
So many cool moments, like walking up to the house and then when burning it, shooting the last 4 Grays, Sean dying suddenly(RIP Sean :( ), when you were trying to escape from the O'Driscoll's and they got you again.
Got so immersed into the game it was crazy, haven't felt that in a while.
I finally get the Micah hate, I started to antagonize him in the camp lol |

I also hunted the legendary Buck down yesterday, and got some nice 3 star pelts on the way, including Cougar and Wolf. I'm looking forward to getting the best satchel.
Realized I haven't done the gunslinger missions yet, want those unique guns, plan to do them tonight.

haha it seems like I will never get anywhere near a better satchel, and really that BEST satchel I am FAR AWAY from, oh men
speaking of the g7unslingers, I visited 3 of those so far, their revolvers look unique but don't do much damage. I used them most of the time for the style, but finally that double action revolver unlocked, so I bought a pair, and now decided to get lost in weapon customization. FUCK that satchel, for now (:

I realized it is even in my satchel to see, under KITS, I guess it must be effective, so I hope at least! It just doesn't show in the "menu". moose and elk, not discovered! | "There he goes. The guns aren't great, but that mission was so much fun. Think that was my favorite stranger strand, easily.
Honestly, the stranger mission game is strong in this one. All of them were very fun and memorable. Though admittedly I've done zero of the collectibles ones. |

^ flaco mission was great. I hated being out there again in the goddamn snow, but the gunclapping was intense and it was the very FIRST duel I was challenged to.
pew pew, adios amigo!
btw. the duel system was obviously overhaul'd and they watered it down to the essentials, but I'm absolutely ok with it as there's no mistakes about what it is you actually do - figuring that out in RDR to this day is a challenge of its own. | "There he goes. Flaco was the last one I did and the way he responded to Arthur made for a brilliant end to that whole thing. Loved it!
The only thing I dislike about the snow area is there really isn't anything to do there, I wish they at least put a little town out there or something. Like some little dumb bullshit town like Van Horn or Armadillo. Unless there is one I missed? I liked the setting for the gang out there, it reminded me of The Hateful Eight. |

Since I was there I caught the white Arabian, found some legendary animal too but I killed it in the water and couldn't skin it, I reloaded the autosave and the carcass bugged out so that it didn't float so I couldn't even push it to land.
Luckily the game expects shit like this to happen so the trapper or something automatically skins it for you, you get the parts (sent to the trapper) and even that you skinned it in the completion thingy after a while.
A random encounter happened on my way back and the guys left a white Shire (The big fucker) and I wanted it too to name it Little John and the Arabian Big John, but another encounter happened on the way next to train tracks and the dumb horse was chilling on the tracks, I called after it when I realized a train was coming but it was too late :'( RIP Little John

Oh and I found out that you don't have to hold X when doing the cinematic travel thing, it keeps going when you release, super convenient for the long trip to Flaco.
