I do that Schraub does, but for a Structural Steel firm. My degree is in education. It just takes some math proficiency and a willingness to take a lot of ass eatings. |

I am an engineer at a Natural gas utility. It's mostly a desk job but I get to go out to the field pretty regularly. |

Professional Engineers Licensing Exam.
You have to pass the EIT (Engineer in Training) Exam first which most everyone thats an engineer takes before they leave college. Then you are supposed to work with a Licensed PE for like 4-5 years before you can apply to take the exam. The exam is long and drawn out and a bitch from what I've always heard. |
I don’t remember the EIT, but my memory of the PE requirements are pretty vague since I bailed on the whole engineering thing right after college. I was also an IE so we probably weren’t actually allowed to take those tests anyway. | | |

The GIT exam was a 4-hour test, and it took about the same time frame to get results back. I figured it was a good sign that I finished in about 90 minutes. | | |
