In the meeting I am in right now, I'm watching two old guys fall asleep while this Associate Counsel from the IRS talks.
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?

There was a verdict in the Michelle Carter case today. She was charged with involuntary manslaughter for encouraging her boyfriend via text message to commit suicide, which he did, in 2014.

Suuuuuuper complicated case and not sure what kind of precedent the ruling will set but it's raising a lot of interesting legal questions.

i read all about that a while ago, glad she got charged, it takes a really fucked up person to do that if you've read the texts.

I'm glad she got convicted because this bitch seems like a genuinely terrible person but I'm guessing she gets off in appeal due to freedom of speech.

If telling people to kill themselves wasn't protected by the 1st amendment then Nofo would probably be serving consecutive life sentences.

there was that guy in Utah who helped his friend kill herself and filmed it. he bragged about it weeks before to his friends saying it would be like getting away with murder.

I feel like there's a difference between just telling someone to kill themselves (i mean, it happens all the time on the internet) and what she did

A trusted individual actively and with malicious intent encouraging someone with suicidal thoughts to kill themselves and taunting them when they back down? what she did was full on manipulation and i think that definitely warrants a manslaughter charge

just simply telling someone to kill themselves though definitely shouldnt be illegal. Cyber bullying shit maybe. But not manslaughter.
