I'm not sure if you're referencing my mom or me. Both are gay and both have 2 kids.

I took the EIT ages ago, and never saw the benefits to taking the PE for what I do. Good Luck Mittens I'm not sure I'd even want to try and this point.

I am an engineer at a Natural gas utility. It's mostly a desk job but I get to go out to the field pretty regularly. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Its not really necessary for what we do, but we can't get above a certain pay grade without the PE so it makes sense to get it. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Gotcha, I'm a project manager / estimator with a general contractor/concrete contractor. Which is the main reason I never pursued the PE, I've heard several horror stories from guys that do have one that work for small companies like mine and are asked to sign or stamp shit that they shouldn't like their jobs depended on it. If I ever did get it I would have to work for a larger company.

Ya I would love to have a stamp just to like stamp foreheads or babies. But I would be super hesitant to stamp anything for real. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Professional Engineers Licensing Exam.
You have to pass the EIT (Engineer in Training) Exam first which most everyone thats an engineer takes before they leave college. Then you are supposed to work with a Licensed PE for like 4-5 years before you can apply to take the exam. The exam is long and drawn out and a bitch from what I've always heard.

I'm currently studying for the PG (Professional Geologist) license exam too. Probably going to take it in the Fall, even though I don't do anything that would require it. The department I work for is offering to pay for the test, so might as well get the fancy stamp, if I can.

Once my kids are gone and off to college and I have some extra time I may look into it harder but I absolutely don't have the time right now to spend studying for it. And I know I can get the company I work for to pay for it. Sometimes I think an MBA would be more worth it.
