$41 holy cow. We were talking about going to see something silly like the Neighbors late tonight for $7.50 a person with a theater gift card and we're still unsure if we want to spend that.

Tonight on Netflix, I watched Lilo and Stitch and Smoke Signals. I also bought the pair of IMAX tickets for Maleficent on Friday and that shit cost me $41, so I'm making my friend give me $20.50. |
I have only ever paid the extra for imax to see Hobbit. Hope you enjoy it and that it's really good!
I'm cheap so I keep checking in hopes that it plays at the drive in I can see 2 movies for $6. | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

Right!
I really should've protested more, but I'm trying to use this trip as a "there we hung out this week so please leave me alone for a month because I don't have enough spoons" kind of thing because she's exhausting. I'm still mad about the price though. I don't mind spending $20.50 at the movies, but that's usually the total price for my ticket AND the food if I'm going to this theatre, not just the ticket plus tax...
It's some "omg IMAX 3D experience!!" shit that Disney's doing, but the last movie I saw when they did that was The Nightmare Before Christmas and all that really had was some new credits (but my mom paid for those tickets and it's a movie we both love). I think the only food I'm gonna buy is popcorn if I can't get my friend to buy it. I'll just smuggle my own drink in.
I should try to go see HTTYD2 in IMAX just to make up for this if it sucks.

I hear Maleficent sucked. As well as A Million Ways to die in the west. So I can finally go a week without going to the movies. I plan to see edge of tomorrow next week. | A survivor becomes a leader...

i don't really have any desire to see Maleficent, but Matt Zoller Seitz' review (http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/maleficent-2014) of it may change that.
|
There are moments in "Maleficent" that are profoundly disturbing, in the way that ancients myths and Grimm fairy tales are disturbing. They strike to the heart of human experience and create the kinds of memories that young children—young girls particularly—will obsess over, because on some level they'll know, even without the benefit of adult experience, that the film is telling them a horrible sort of truth. |
Seeing X-Men tonight so I should probably get around to seeing First Class, right?

Well, I'll report back on how Maleficent is tomorrow. That review made me feel a little less meh about it.

It sounds a little like Return to Oz with its use of that kind of imagery.
SO XMEN. Not bad, had some fun action scenes and it actually managed to have a really dramatic and effective climax even though the plot means it doesn't really matter. One thing I liked was that it made the whole series |
basically about Wolverine. It's always been about him but now that's the TEXT of the movie. |
Best part was |
Anna Paquin showing up for like 5 seconds and getting a huge place on the credits |

Just get a big purse or one of those 99cent bags they sell at the grocery store, put some chips/candy/popcorn and drinks in there and your purse on top and take that in as your purse.

I don't really know the X-Men besides the movies and the Clone Wars game for Genesis, so I don't have much of an opinion on the matter. But most of what I've seen has positioned him as the HERO/MAIN CHARACTER and to see the movie take that to its extreme was funny.

I'm watching The Blue Gardenia while waiting to leave for Maleficent.
Edit: I've left now and we're stuck in traffic. The movie starts in like ten minutes.
