What about chair lifts, though?! Is it necessary to rise from the floor?
Stair lifts are ANNOYING!!!
My grandpa had to have one for a few years before he died, but the way our stairs are built made it really impractical and kind of dangerous, because there were a few steps at the bottom that are part of a landing, which meant he still needed to be carried up a few stairs, and the top of the stairs has a big window, which meant the lift had to stop before it was actually all the way to the top, which meant he actually had to be maneuvered out while on the steps. He nearly fell down them a few times. And if he didn't have a caregiver around at all times it would have been impossible for him to use the stair lift by himself, even if he was more mobile. And if he'd been paralyzed and not able to take a few steps, it would have been impossible for him to use the stair lift WITH help
The lift also took up half the width of the stairs with the track, and only a very tiny squeeze space was available at whichever park the chair was parked at. It was awful.
(And I know, obvious solution would be to just use the lift instead of walking up and down, but it's SO SLOW)
This elevator lift thing is actually way more practical and would take up way less space

A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.

Coincidentally I came across this floor lift (or whatever it's called) video after I was watching a ridiculous Acorn Stairlift commercial that I had seen on CNN earlier and wanted to find on Youtube. In that add (or another autoplay stairlift ad) they were like "AND AFTER INSTALLATION THERE IS STILL ROOM FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY TO USE THE STAIRS!!!!" And it was like a third the width of the stairs to walk up, which is BARELY ANY ROOM, so I buy all that you're saying, Rose. Also the Acorn ad makes it clear that it would take like ten minutes to get up and down your stairs sitting in that thing. You could probably read a whole chapter of a book in that time.
So basic stairlifts are a sham? They're marketed as being safer but sounds like they're really not!

I mean it's still safer and more convenient than trying to drag an old man up and down the stairs but yeah they aren't very great

I think its bigger news that Natalie still posts on FE.
I can't stay away forever, I'd miss you all too much :)
