Never tried frying Snapple- not even sure how I would do that.
And I would have said goetta, but I don't think most people know what that is.

Nah, spam is "spiced ham" which, in Midwest terms "spiced" means salt and sugar.
Scrapple and goetta are both more scraps, grain, and sometimes blood pudding type shit.

The "spiced ham" part comes from the Hormel museum.
|
According to the company’s Spam Museum, Ken Digneau, the brother of a Hormel executive, came up with the name — a portmanteau word for “spiced ham” — in a naming contest and got $100 as a reward. |
The fact that the only "spices" in the ingredients list are sugar and salt is what brings up the second part. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

also, for most of ww2, most allied soldiers were of the belief that spam was an acronym for "special army meat"
hormel even did a postwar marketing campaign to convince housewives that spam wasn't actually field rations but could be proudly served at the dining room table |
