Mind if I butt in on this conversation? New Nightmare is definitely my favorite NoES movie that I've seen; it's like the proto-Scream. The only slasher series I've gotten into all the way was Halloween, and even then most of the movies are garbage. 1 and 2 still hold up imo. Haven't watched Rob Zombie ones though. | Nintendo Network ID: EctoCooler47 |

Ohh wow, you should defenitly watch the Rob Zombie ones. Alot of people dont like them, but those are 2 of my favorites. They really mess with your mind... Like big time! Espicially the second one, that one is pretty messed up, extremely dark and depressing, and sick gore. But I still love um. :-p. And remeber when you do watch them try to watch um with an open mind. Dont go and follow the herd and have this mass hate towards it, cause it actually is pretty good.and yes I defenitly agree that New Nightmare is the best!! :-D

Amazing Spider-Man 2 - ...I liked it! It had a lot of problems, the complaints of it feeling like 3 different movies stuffed into one are very on point. But the messiness was kind of FUN, in a bad writing way. The action scenes are fantastic, very FLUID ( (: ) and the stuff with Peter and Gwen Stacy is a step away from MUMBLECORE BRILLIANCE. I really like how they give both characters kind of interior lives, where they do significant things away from the camera. That said the villains were awful and it felt like they were afraid to COMMIT to the ridiculousness of it. If they wanted something more in line with the rest of the movie, they should have conceived it as something in line with the rest of the movie.
GODZILLA - ...I liked it! The scale was amazing, there was a scene on a railroad that actually approaches the T-Rex scene from Jurassic Park in terms of suspense. When things really start heating up its giant wrestling monsters become fucking transcendental. It's a shame about the people tho, other than Cranston's too-brief performance nobody really brings any emotion into it. Which sucks because SPIELBERG's style is all over it but there's none of his strong characters.\
There are a few incredible action scenes that are totally deflated by what comes next, usually an emphasis on the domestic life of the bland protagonist.

Glad to hear this, they are showing them together at the drive-in, may go tomorrow if it isn't cold and raining.
Also watched Ravenous last night. I'm still a little bothered by the music, otherwise I liked it. | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

Weeeird movie. ZERSCH MY HORROR/THRILLER PAL you might like this one. It's a strange little low budget horror movie. I knew nothing about it going in, which is the best way for this one really
Basically it's about a guy who travels to his druggie pal's cabin in order to hold an intervention for him. Then odd things begin to happen..as they do!
It was really unnerving all the way through. There was just this strange sense of dread and uneasiness the entire time and I got pretty creeped out. The entire movie is very ambiguous
It was also surprisingly hilarious, and the two main characters were probably two of the most fleshed out/realistic horror movie characters I've seen in awhile | |

Sounds interesting, I'm renting it now.

Pontypool
Had this in my Netflix queue since the first time I had Netflix but just got around to watching it. A unique take on a zombie/viral outbreak story. The way the infection spreads is so unique that it is borderline preposterous, even considering the genre. It mostly takes place within a radio station where a shock jock is receiving news of the outbreak by phone and updating everyone over the airwaves. Sounds boring, and it did take a little bit to pick up some steam, but I thought it was neat.

Strongman
A documentary about the strongman Stanless Steel whose career isn't quite as hot as it used to be. Though I wonder if it really was ever as grand as he seems to think it was. Offbeat and pretty sad. He's certainly not a friendly drunk and his wife looks like she is suffering from PTSD anytime he picks up a bottle. That being said I totally want to give him a dollar to bend a penny. | |

Just finished this and really liked it. For a low budget movie it's really fucking good. I found a lot of their banter to be hilarious. I especially liked when he busted out the random mountain lion stats.
"Better take my mountain lion gun.... since 1983 the mountain lion population has grown steadily and staggeringly...there's thirteen mountain lions for every person."
But other than the two of them going back and forth, I was creeped out through the whole thing. Especially when he goes into the "mexican trafficking cave" and that French dude in the RV. Actually I guess pretty much any time he was alone and walking around.

Not sure I 'get' the ending though, unless it's doing what Cabin in the Woods did in turning the viewer into the monster. Is that what I was supposed to take away from it, or were there clues to some actual entity that went over my head? |

Amazing Spiderman 2 - no secret I love marvel. This was much better than the first one. It was very stuffed though. Electro wasn't a very intimidating villain. He was pathetic but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I am enjoying this trilogy more so than the original (WHICH WAS VERY GOOD OOPS CAPS) I like Peter Parker more in this adaptation because his age and personality are more accurate to the character. In addition to that, having Gwen be his first love before Mary Jane is accurate too. Only true complaint is they made Harry green goblin instead of Norman the father. Pros out way the cons I'm not too hard to please. All villains are better than the lizard from the first movie. Can't wait for sinister six and hopefully Black Cat
Frozen - wow this movie is so so overrated. Then again its aimed to little kids. First g movie I watched in ages. I was wanting to see what all the hype was as this movie made a fortune. You can see how drastic princess movies are from decades ago. Improvement for sure. But ya I found myself praying for the end...especially whenever they started to sing that was torture. I would not watch this again but I guess I understand the appeal if ur 12 years old and younger | |

I agree with you about Frozen, Shadow. I watched it once (not by choice), and the singing bothered me too. I felt like it interrupted the story too much. lol Olaf was definitely the highlight for me. But I'd never watch it again.

I'm watching the new Fast and the Furious
movie with my parents. My dad's already questioning the logic. I want Dwayne Johnson and Vin Disel in more stuff together.
I am too sleepy to finish this movie and catch the repeat of Orphan Black, so I will watch both later.

I honestly have no idea (: . I read a bit about it afterwards and it was compared to Cabin in the Woods a lot. It didn't cross my mind that the viewer was supposed to be the entity, the POV makes sense if that's the case
Seems like the type of ending that's totally ambiguous and you just take away whatever you want from it. I'm torn on how I feel about it, but it was definitely pretty unique
Agreed about the RV and cave parts btw. RV part creeped me out. I thought the guy was gonna jab the mirror into his own eye or something fucked up. The movie was so effective in that regard |

The Burrowers
A rescue party goes looking for the assumed surviving members of a family of settlers, some of which are found dead in their home. They assume that Indians took them but... spoiler alert - it wasn't Indians! Vaguely similar to Tremors, if it took place in the Wild West (well... I guess that would be Tremors 4, whatever) but without the comedy and they're not big sandworms. It was slow going but I quite enjoyed it for what it was.
---
Dead Birds
A bunch of guys rob a bank, killing everyone and making off with confederate gold. They hide out in an abandoned plantation house after shooting and killing a weird looking monster. It was kind of funny how indifferent they were to the thing after shooting it. Things go downhill from there, obviously, as they uncover a tale about a slave owner sacrificing his slaves and children to resurrect his wife. I liked the atmosphere and the setting, but it relied way too much on jump scares. It was neat to find out where this picture comes from that I've seen used for screamers and such. Again, it was funny how indifferent the character that saw this thing was to it - going on to just refer to it as a little boy:
