Jeez Trump knows how to divide America/rally his base. The whole transgender in the military thing should be a non-issue, but after reading facebook it's crazy to see how riled up people are about it (as in for it). The people in the military will never turn on him.

The military literally just said this morning that they will "continue to treat our military personnel with respect" until they get official instructions from the White House.

Why would people be so vehemently against transgenders in the military?

It's not like there's a sexually desirable/distraction in combat element to it.

The argument I've heard/read is that some people consider transgenderism to be a mental disorder, and they don't want people who are mentally unstable in the military.

While I don't buy the argument, I can see where a person could draw that conclusion.

Supposedly, the "tremendous cost" of treatments for them is the problem. It's like 10 million or something. Definitely the most costly element of our military spending

It's not just a private problem, it is a major general problem.

The argument that I have heard is it is basically a costly, preexisting medical condition. People with other conditions that would cost similar amounts of money and medical leave/off time are not allowed into the military, and are even medically discharged when they arise.

On that basis, I see their point.

Border adjustability is effectively dead for tax reform.

Yeah, though I would say that an outright ban is silly. How about something like:


1) VA med won't cover costs,
2) If surgery/recovery happens during military time and thus you are unable to perform your duties, you get discharged, just like other medical issues.
