I thought I had seen it when I was a kid but as I watched it I realized I’ve never actually really seen it before, I just knew it so well/had seen so many parts before. But last night was for sure my first time seeing it all the way through
Lots of screaming in that movie! Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of screaming
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a Jonathan try to sell a Vampire a house. I’m over it! No more!
Anyway, this was okay! Klaus Kinski is kinda...whiney? There’s a scene where he’s putting a coffin in a church and notices the cross and...whimpers? It cracked me up.
But yea… also pretty sexual! Isabelle Adjani...wowee!
SCORE - 6/10
Monster - Vampires. Near Dark v Thirst v Nosferatu.
Pretty easy! Thirst was my second favorite from last year. S2 gets the 2 points. Near Dark is next...S1 gets 1 and Klausferatu and S3 gets 0.

I have to admit, I really didn’t give this much of a shot. I was tired and not really in the mood to watch anything, but I needed to knock one of these out. Apparently, this is one of the original Giallo movies. It’s tough to explain but it almost didn’t feel like a movie? The plot was pretty vague at times until the end when everything is sort of wrapped together. I didn’t find the kills too flashy which is surprising since Giallo kills are usually BRUTAL. But yea, nothing besides the sets really stood out to me, unfortunately.
SCORE - 5/10
Killer - Crime & Giallo. Inferno v Opera v Blood and Black Lace.
Inferno was in my top ten of S1. It’s got a super gruesome window kill that’s still one of my favorites. It gives S1 2 points. Opera has its issues but certain elements still stand out. I can’t really say the same for B&BL. 1 point for s2 and 0 for s3.

It’s alright. I thought it was funny how they’d introduce an annoying character who you’d assume would be around for most of the movie but then instantly kill them off. That happened like 3 times. The kid in the pool was pretty creepy and the wedding scene was pure chaos. The movie suffers from a ton of logic issues, but it was fun to see a young Robert Forster. Balding is the real threat here folks.

Ohhhh I love that fucking weirdo Peter Jackson. Its been so fun to watch his pre LOTR work in this and Dead Alive. In Dead Alive you could see strong hints of his style and what he would end up bringing to the table for LOTR. In Bad Taste the LOTR connection isnt as strong, but you can defffffinitely see heavy hints of what was to come for Dead Alive as soon as he got the money to play around more
Bad Taste isnt exactly a great movie but I thought it was fun. Some of the whackier shit would normally bother me, looking at you CRITTERS!, but it worked way better here. Or at least it was more forgivable
I love the dumb gags that he comes up with, whether theyre just gross out moments or the way he stages a silly three stooges esque slapstick fight. You can tell its just him and his buddies having a blast with it and making the movie that they wanna make for fun. A lot of small things reminded me of my friends and I making movies in high school, down to the cheap ways they pulled off certain gags
A goofy fun time overall. Whenever a stupid gross out gag would happen I would just laugh that this wonderful man would be trusted to direct The Lord of the Rings in about ten short years. You love to see it

Not bad! Fredric March was good in it in both roles. Just read that he won the Oscar for best actor for this, that's interesting
I didn't love the look of Hyde but I did love the transitions, those were well done. More so the seamless ones and less so the blurry fade into the next shot ones
Well shot, well lit, well acted, etc. Some classic awkward as fuck moments that you get with movies during this period ofc, just really goofy reaction shots and such but that's all forgivable
Mvp of the movie was his butler

Vampyr vs Dracula vs Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. HMMMMMM! The easy third place is Vampyr, fuck outta here Vampyr! Its a coin toss for me for Dracula vs Jekyll but......I think I'm gonna go with Jekyll I guess. Maybe I'm just burnt out on Dracula movies tbh. I remember liking Christopher Lee and Cushing but I cant remember much else to differentiate it from the many Dracula movies we've watched over the past three seasons of this. Jekyll will likely stick with me longer. Feels weird to give two points to Jekyll and 2020 but it just isnt a very strong matchup

I reallyyyy liked it. I don't think you'll like it quite as much Jacob but who knows. WHO KNOWS!
After two movies I officially really love Jim Cummings, I think he's great. His character in this might as well be he same as Thunder Road but that's perfectly fine with me, he's so good at it. I almost want him to just make a universe out of this same sorta asshole protagonist, Dollars trilogy style
Loved any scene with him and Robert Forster, especially towards the end when he tells him he has to retire and that he's going to the hospital. Both of them killed that part. I work with my dad who's retiring in a few weeks so it hit home a lil bit
Riki Lindhome was good. The death scenes were good. Each victim having a bit of personality was good
The crazy editing style was hit and miss but more hit than miss for me. The comedy really worked for me, I love his strange unique blend of dark comedy here. Thunder Road on full display at times. I loved the librarian scene and many many small moments that I cant remember
Loved the confrontation at the end. The shot of him standing in front of the taxidermy place while Riki and the audience both figured it out was great. The shot of the guy standing up straight was probably the shot of the movie, I loved that. The whole bit at the end there is being compared to the perfect Zodiac scene. Obviously not AS good since that scene is an all timer, but definitely gave off very similar vibes. I thought it was great
He always does a great job of bringing dialogue back around. Like when he was talking to his AA group about people always asking him if he's okay and he lies and says he's fine, then later when he kills the guy and Riki mouths if he's okay and he shakes his head no and collapses. Love that shit. The shot of him saying no was great. Also those brutal headshots at the end were great
Rip Robert Forster, great last performance. I was sad when he died in this
This might end up being a 4 in a few days tbh, not sure yet. Gotta sit on it
★★★½ very good/well executed
