Watched a whole handful of some traditional animation movies so I'mma update this with those.
+Emperor's New Groove
+Princess and The Frog
+Tarzan
1. Toy Story 3 *****
2. Toy Story ****1/2
3. Inside Out ****1/2
4. Big Hero 6 ****
5. Monsters, Inc. ****
6. Toy Story 2 ****
7. The Incredibles
8. Up ***1/2
9. Tangled ***1/2
10. Wreck-It Ralph ***1/2
11. Coco ***1/2
12. Tarzan *** 1/2
13. Ralph Breaks the Internet ***
14. Frozen ***
15. Ratatouille ***
16. Princess and The Frog ***
17. Emperor's New Groove ***
18. Monsters University ***
19. Bolt **1/2
20. Meet the Robinsons **1/2
21. Chicken Little *.
Only one I've seen on the list was Emperor's New Groove, which was a blur since it was when I was very young. A lot of stuff came back to me though. I'd definitely say it was one of the weaker ones for sure, but still pretty enjoyable. Genuinely funny, even if it does try too hard at times.
Princess and the Frog was surprisingly VERY good. I always thought this was going to be super hammy based off the marketing, but it was a fun little adventure. That death scene was really unexpected but the ending with the two stars next to each other was such a d'awww moment.
And Tarzan was... actually great! For some reason, this is a movie I've ALWAYS avoided and hated the idea of it when I was a kid. Got no idea why. But god was that good. Very PRETTY movie too, the jungle scenes stuck out really well in the animation. Looked almost 3D at times. Fucking bloody though! Lots of deaths for a Disney movie. |

Jeeze this was 2.5 years ago, that's so wild
In that time pixar came out with Onward and Soul. Watched Soul last night and gonna watch Onward sometime soon, then finally knock out the two Incredibles movies and that'll be it

Great stuff! Animation was gorgeous, blows me away how far they've come. Some humor landed, some didn't. Typical Pixar
Actually felt way more geared towards adults than children which was cool. Obviously Pixar's strength is usually that they're children's movies that adults can enjoy but this one felt more tailored towards adults than any of the rest. Had some clever stuff in a Don Hertzfeldt kinda way (watch It's Such a Beautiful Day if you haven't) and ended on a nice message
Good voicework from Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey too. And great music from Reznor and Ross as always

was gonna make a new thread for this but there's already two threads discussing it so I'll just stick it here
Anyway Soul was real good! Almost like a combination of Inside Out and Coco in a way. I'm with Curt tho in thinking Coco was way overrated, just watched it for the first time a couple months ago and didn't get a lot out of it despite all the hype

def agree. I actually wondered how much kids will get out of this one considering it was basically an animated existential crisis
