When you start off saying something is a finger, and then go on to discuss why it shouldn't be a finger, you've pretty much admitted its a finger. More so, the reason I included other definitions other than Oxford (which still says it is a finger) is because the Brits can't even spell words like color right, so using them as your sole argument isn't effective when we talk what *we* here in the US think is a finger. Either that or you better start renumbering your floors.

It also does not make the wolf a dog or the square a circle or a king a queen just because they are both human. You are mistaken in believing that because a thumb and a finger are both digits that they must share the same further classifications as well. A thumb is distinct in it's thumbness. In it's most basic essence it is a thumb and it rejects your improper classification of its true self just as Nofo does.

The big toe has the same knuckle ratio as the thumb, but is still a toe. So that goes out the door. The only separation is that it is opposable, yet on monkeys with opposable digits they are typically called toes still. Stating a thumb is special and different only because you want it to be is like saying a wolf isn't a canine because you don't want it to be like other canines, which is associated with dogs.

In fact, the opposable portion cannot be the sole descriptor for a thumb, because it would then be repetitive to call it "an opposable thumb" in the first place, because opposable would be inbuilt. It would be like saying "PIN number". :P
