I do feel bad for Varner but I find the fact that the conversation is about Varner is problematic in itself. To direct the sympathy to Varner takes away from what he did imo. I don't think Varner is a bad person, he's just misguided and not as educated as he could have been. We never saw any conversation between Jeff and Zeke, that could have been a thing that happened but I feel like that's context we weren't given.

I don't think Varner is a bad person, he just has terrible taste in men.

I don't agree with this. To direct sympathy to Jeff Varner does not take away from what he did to Zeke. You can be sympathetic to both Zeke (for having to endure that entire situation) while remaining sympathetic to Varner (for the witch hunt that is about to take place online, based on what I see as a massive error in judgment that does not reflect his overall character).

If Varner had been unapologetic about it the way that Shannon was in Niceragua with regards to Sash, I'd absolutely agree with you that he doesn't deserve our sympathy. But I also think it's reasonable to be sympathetic to Varner because the online Survivor community has a tendency to go on witch hunts, and Jeff did appear to immediately regret his actions, and apologized.

ETA: Fuck. Forgot I was on this account, but this was badger speaking.

I'm not sure if this is a good time to bring this up but... I'm attending a transgender class at work in two weeks. It's kind of on topic but not really related.

My favorite moment watching the episode was in the middle of that awkward af TC when my dad was just like, "You know who Zeke looks like?"

"I don't know dad, who?"

"WIIIIIIIILLLLSSSSSSOOOOON... from Castaway!"
"All this from a slice of gabagool?"

What Jeff did was incredibly misguided and opened Zeke up to violence. He knew Zeke wasn't out to them, he said as much. He phrased it as if his living his truth was a deception. I don't think the conversation needs to be about Varner. That's what I said. We don't need to say over and over again, poor Varner he's such a nice guy. Yes, he is. The conversation shouldn't be about him, that's what I was saying.

That was the most uncomfortable moment of survivor ever, I couldn't look at the tv. If I did I was afraid I'd look it in the eye

On a lighter note (not necessarily a better one), Ozzy is the first person in Survivor history to get to the Jury stage 4 times.

This is much, much darker

Would've been hilarious if Varner pulled out an Idol when Jeff said votes weren't necessary

Yeah seriously what if Jeff had an idol or Tai wanted to idol out Ozzy ? That was incredibly unfair of Probst to not let them vote

To be completely honest. If Jeff had an idol at that point I don't think he would have wanted to go back to camp.
"So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"
