lol Lynch's gloves are OFF this season, he's really not shy about his prolonged silences. The show in general feels so different in tone, more dry humor and less soapy drama. Not sure if I love the shift but I'm still def drawn in. I think the lack of music definitely plays a huge role in that tone shift too

I miss the Black Lodge dwarf, he was always the best part of those scenes. Guessing he's dead irl? But if they were gonna replace him, I suppose it might as well be with a talking tree. Sure!

The Dougie stuff is pretty funny but BOY am I waiting for the payoff to that. I miss the real Coop :(

Hawk and Shelly win the award for most graceful aging

Kind of wild seeing so many new locations pop up when before the show was pretty much entirely confined to one location. Very intrigued on what the payoff to all those different mini plotlines is gonna add up to

Shelly recently died :( . A handful of them died in quick succession over the past couple of years

lol go read about why they replaced him with a tree. Wild story. Him and Lynch had beef so Lynch said fuck you, I’m replacing you with a tree

lol I'm looking forward to catching up on all these anecdotes after I'm done. But too paranoid of spoilers to look at anything yet

That's so sad about Shelly :( Would've never guessed from her here

Log lady died as the return was airing or just shortly before. Makes her scenes way sadder

still miss the old Coop but I think I've been Stockholm'd into loving Dougie. His scenes are still the best part of every ep

I really thought THE moment of realization came when his ears sort of perked up at the piano player, but alas. I KNOW that moment is coming eventually. It HAS to!

sidenote: Jim Belushi is doing a great John Goodman impression here. I've actually been enjoying him

aaand done

I'm...really gonna have to think on that ending/last episode. Definitely don't fully understand it!

ditto for the season in general really. This was Twin Peaks unchained from the constraints of network TV, which had its pros and cons. The highs hit really high, but sometimes at the cost of building up any meaningful connections with the characters, which the original show had in spades. With that said tho, that bonkers episode 8 might've been the high point? That and the S2 finale are definitely the two eps I'd be most likely to rewatch

glad we got a little bit of Agent Cooper at the end but I just wish there was...more. I was really hoping to see just a few episodes of Coop being his usual unflappable self and interacting with characters in town. Instead it was mostly him with one foot still in the Black Lodge, i.e. mostly aloof. Oh well

overall great show, def one of a kind and deserving of its classic status. Miss it already!

Yeah lol, Coop being...not Coop is an ultimate Lynch move. He knows what the audience wants and he’s like too bad, fuck you! But with that said the I am the FBI moment was one of the most crowd pleasing moments I can recall in TV. The loooong build up to that payoff was crazy. But then we get Coop for what feels like 15 mins and then the show is over. Still drives me crazy, I just fucking love Coop

Really wish Harry was in the revival too. And Audrey with the biggest snub

Another huge fuck you moment was when James replayed his wonderful song. Lynch knew everyone always shits on that infamous moment so he did it again. So funny, I jumped out of my seat when that song started

Ep 8 was THE episode when the return aired. I would rewatch the whole season sometime tbh. I find myself rewatching clips and realizing how great they are in retrospect all the time, there’s this strange magic to s3

Yeah I mean I was getting impatient enough with the Coop stuff just binging this within a couple weeks, can't imagine how much more frustrating that would've been watching it week-to-week

The Dougie stuff WAS really fun though, much moreso in hindsight now that I'm not anxiously waiting for him to be...not Dougie. This sequence especially, my god

McLachlan is too good

RE: Audrey, watched the RLM review and they had an interesting theory that her stuff in S3 was all metacontextual (idk if that's the right word for it), where her husband was almost a stand-in for the writers (he even threatens to "write her out of the story" or something like that at one point), and she mentions Billy a bunch which...could be referring to Billy Zane since there's not a known character on TP named that? Then her dance at the end was kind of like her reliving her "moment" from the show's original run, before she wakes up in reality

idk if that makes it any better, since I like Audrey a lot and it would've been fun for her to have an actual role in the season (I was completely unspoiled so her showing up at all was a pleasant surprise, I was still assuming she had blown up at the bank). But it is an INTERESTING angle

think I'd go

S1 > FWWM > S3 > S2

all really close though honestly. S2 has gotta be last just because it has the most glaring weaknesses but it also has easily some of the highest PEAKS(!) of the show as well, so it's really not far off
