The Lab 4 forum has been opened up for viewing:
http://www.ndimforums.com/lab4/forummain.asp
Still need to create the rules and gameplay info threads. Everybody needs to check these out when they go up (new or old players) because there will be details about new gameplay mechanics posted. I'll let you know when stuff is up.
History and Chronology sections are active and you can sit and stare into space, though!

I've posted the full gameplay guide now:
http://www.ndimforums.com/lab4/thread.asp?threadid=5
Very important for new players but also worth reading for old players. It's pretty bulky but provides clear examples. At the very least it'll be a handy document for players who need to look things up during the game.
For returning players, there are a few important changes which really need to be understood because they affect the game in a major way. The most important:
- Changes to phase structure. There won't be a single phase thread each game phase anymore. Posts will be split out into multiple threads inside each phase forum for each group, and it's important to get to grips with these and how they work. Players will be able to create their own threads inside phase forums too.
- Changes to the way actions work. I've been lenient in the past allowing players to post role actions in the wrong place, item actions in the wrong place and almost everything has been allowed in the public phase thread. Because of the multiple thread thing, no public actions are accepted as valid in this, and any actions not posted in their correct journal threads will be disregarded and ignored.
I can see this becoming a big issue if people don't read this and end up posting things in the wrong place. For this reason, I can't stress enough the importance of getting this clear at the start. Each journal update thread will have a post explaining which actions need to be posted in each for them to count.
- Changes to win conditions. Players won't have win conditions assigned to them anymore, instead being able to win in a number of different ways provided they've "unlocked" a specific win condition. How this all works in the game is critically important. If a player thinks they understand and ends up fulfilling a win condition they haven't unlocked, they're not gonna win the game.
- There's a new score system in place to handle a deadlocked game scenario along with a time limit. Deadlock will probably only happen if the time limit expires before any win condition is met. I'm trying to make the game in such a way that deadlock can't happen, but this is something to fall back on if it does. In addition, a player can still earn an honourary win if they have the highest score, even if they're dead when the game ends.

Game rules posted. Not gonna bump this again unless it's to answer questions or inform people the game is starting.

Please make sure you read the rules. There's a new thing about quoting posts across different phases that's really important.

Bump to answer a few common questions and an update on the game schedule.
Game Start:
The game is due to start April 25th (on a Saturday). The board will open to account registration and pre-game threads on April 23rd. This process will last 48 hours, with Phase 1 of the game kicking off on April 25th at 6 PM EST.
I need to have applications in by April 20th so I can finalise characters and create avatars. Earlier is better, but I will accept late applications.
Characters:
Had a couple of questions about characters. Characters are entirely changeable and not an important part of the application, provided people are open to their character choices being tweaked to match the game. If you apply with a character and then change your mind on it before April 20th, it's not a problem.
I also don't need you to provide character information with the initial application. If you don't want to opt out but aren't sold on your character yet, you're free to leave that blank. It won't penalise the application at all. In the Lab 3 application process, there were a lot of tweaks and changes that had to be made. At the moment I'm more interested in ascertaining players than I am the characters they're likely to play.
Last point: Don't feel constrained by the game setting/era. Most characters can be worked in or tweaked to fit.
Spectators:
I am taking on spectators again. If you don't have the time to commit to the game but want to watch it all unfold, you're free to watch. Just remember that Labyrinth relies on discretion. Spectators will be able to watch and post commentary but not interact with the people playing. The game works best in isolation.
It's a good chance for people who are curious but unsure if they want to commit to playing. Watching the game unfold is a tremendous amount of fun, since you can see how people's decisions tie into and affect one another without their being aware. It plays out in a very entertaining way.
Last point: Instead of prologues, I'm going to be posting updates in the GMC Console section of the Lab 4 forum for this game. These posts will feature information about the mission, leading into the game. This section will be updated during the game as well.
The first of these has been posted: http://www.ndimforums.com/lab4/thread.asp?threadid=10
Any questions about apps, spectating or the game, just drop me a message:

You know Helios is scum when he summarizes everything and then adds to the discussion by picking out one random sentence someone says and writes an italicized diatribe about how it's curious and he really, REALLY wants to know more about it.
"What did you mean by this, though? You are eating a biscuit? A BISCUIT???? Seems a little farfetched to me. Really gonna need to hear more about this biscuit situation." | Yes
With some form of over the top, “Wait, what the actual fuck?!” thrown in
| A biscuit? Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?
Say it with me... inactive biscuit is still biscuit. And my key to victory. |
