I know I am not one and I don't appreciate the slander. I apologize if you are misunderstanding me but I found a quote from an article that best describes my original view before this thread spiraled.

My point is comics are a very visual media. We see the character every time we read a comic. Unlike books, comics SHOW us EXACTLY what the character looks like month after month, year after year. For more than 50 years I've seen the Human Torch every time I pick up a Fantastic Four comic. I know what he looks like. So when I'm givin a fat Spider-Man, skinny Wilson Fisk, asian Bruce Wayne, or a female Tony (Toni?) Stark I don't feel like I'm seeing the same character I've been reading for decades. We get so excited for these films because we want to see the characters we all grew up with.

Believe me when I say I'd be super annoyed if Hulk wasn't green and Sue Storm was not a blonde. (More so than anything don't touch a blonde's hair) I love imagining the characters drawn coming to life visually. But I do now see the argument that Johnny's race isn't that integral to his actual character the more I read this ~controversy~. The only thing that would make it is his sister. I'm more unhappy with Cyclops casting than any casting of Marvel movies of late. At this point I don't even care anymore because people are making this a bigger deal than it is

They are probably just making it a shared universe with X-men and making his mom Storm. It all makes sense now.

I was going to say I was saving all of my righteous indignation for when they downgrade Power Girl's comically large breasts, but it seems they have done just that.

And they made her black.

You can not fucking say that Johnny being white and blonde is at all a part of that character. He was not written as a white guy. It is fucking irrelevant how the character looks. If you're so worried about him being black you're racist and/or don't care about the character at all, just gay and into Chris Evans. I guess I'd be upset too if I was racist and teddy and Billy were written as black. Teddy and Billy tho <33333333 I luv young avengers
