OH DAMN. Best episode yet
|
- Tried to stab Ramsay. Kind of a silly choice to give the player tbh, since it's obvious that it wouldn't work. I picked it just because I wanted to see what would happen
- Killed Bloodsong. Then regretted it immediately afterwards, because I felt I had commanded enough respect to get them to stray a little from their barbarism. Plus, y'know, he would've been a useful soldier
- Told Tyrion that Cersei sent me. I was actually hoping this would lead to the option of lying about the REASON that Cersei sent me so I could somehow outwit him, buuut in the end it's a Telltale game and the outcomes were too simple for that
- Killed Duncan. Not even a hard decision. His reasoning didn't even make SENSE! How was telling the enemy my numbers and plans supposed to prevent a war?
- Left Rodrik behind. It was cool to see that this almost a perfectly even split. Such an epic moment. ULTIMATELY I went with Rodrik because character-wise he's the more honorable one, and rationally Asher's the one holding the pit fighters together, which seems like the main component of the Forrester army at this point. Which is kinda sad considering only like 10 came back with him (: That's a shitload of gold per person!
The finale's gonna be awesome. Asher + Beksha vs Whitehills, Gared finding the North Grove, Mira doing...something? Mira's had my favorite storyline overall but I'm not really sure where that's going right now, or how she's gonna factor into the endgame. Gotta say it was all too easy for Cersei to turn me to her side. I would've sold out Sera in a SECOND if I had the chance! And it sounds like Andros is gonna get the Qyburn treatment. Damn. It's nice being on this side of Cersei for now (:
rip Finn. He's gonna show back up as a wight for sure. I was waiting for the option to BURN him! It honestly seems dumb to me that Sylvi/Cotter would go along with going NORTH with Gared when there's a gigantic White Walker army coming from that way. But whatev |

Some weighty decisions to make this episode, hardest one yet. I'm not even sure there was supposed to be a way to outwit Tyrion. Kind of dumb that you bring wine from Cersei's room though. Asher's army is shit. Several of them died straight away, including The Beast! Well worth the trouble.
I left Rodrick behind too, but I spared Duncan. I am hoping you get the option to use him to bullshit the Whitehalls in the future, but it's more likely he will betray us again at some point! Never mind. I am curious if the traitor was Royland for anybody else? I figured whoever you chose as Sentinel, the other one would be the traitor, but maybe that isn't the case. |

yup that's what I heard. Kinda lazy tbh... that means the Sentinel decision meant nothing in the end |

Yeah, I'm p. annoyed. Normally I wouldn't mind and I'd just do another play through but it's Fallout time.

Well that... was something. Very good finale imo
|
- Fought with "unwavering conviction". I guess it graded you based on your cumulative decisions? Apparently I was with 14% on this. Makes sense though. There were only a few times that I gave in to anyone
- Lied to Margaery and had Sera dismissed. FUCK THAT BITCH! The first thing I did when I went in Margaery's chambers is admit that I shared Cersei's wine with Sera. And then Margaery tells me Sera sold me out and blamed me for everything at the garden party? FUCK THAT SHIT! I told Margaery that Sera was lying about her lineage too, no idea why she didn't make a bigger deal about that, she kinda just shrugged it off and was like "yeah she is a bit of a liar isn't she!" She got off way too easy
- Refused to marry Morgryn. Easy decision made even easier when he admitted that my whole life I'd be locked away in a cell. Uhhhhh???? Who the fuck would agree to that? Considering this was a major choice I guess that means Margaery couldn't have saved you, which is sad (I'm very curious how that scene would play out though). That scene at the block was devastating. I felt the same way that I felt during Ned's death, I kept waiting for something to happen, someone to save me at the last second. But no :( Mira was my favorite
- Used blood magic on Cotter. He asked me to! I mean I don't even feel bad for Sylvi, she probably would've got killed along with me if I gave him a slightly less painful death
- Ambushed Lord Whitehill. HOW THE FUCK DID I MISS??? Asher was standing like two feet away from him. I knew something like that would happen though, it would've been too happy and un-GOT like if I had managed to kill him and live happily ever after. It was very satisfying getting to kill Gryff at least
- Stayed to defend the North Grove. It was Lord Forrester's dying wish so of course I did. Plus I have no idea how we were supposed to manage to sneak past the wall with the Night's Watch on full alert. Even if we did make it past there'd probably be like four of us left by the time we made it to Ironrath
I guess that means S2 is confirmed?? I guess I don't mind, because they gave pretty decent closure to this season's storylines, I just wonder how they're gonna manage to deal with all these branching paths. The biggest one probably being Mira being locked away for some people and dead for others. The only way probably would be to completely cut her out of the story, but that'd be really dumb. Wouldn't surprise me tho!
That final battle at Ironrath was BRUTAL! It exceeded my expectations. Glad Talia made it out alive at the end. I don't see how Asher's gonna pull through tho. Maybe there's a rly good Maester in the village I conveniently fell in??
I can't say I really gave a shit about the North Grove storyline, it was the only weak part of the episode imo. The intrigue and mystery for it all season long was great, but the payoff was just ehh. I would've liked it better if either nothing was there or there was something there but it got wiped out long ago. That would've been a more fitting conclusion than this Temple of Doom shit
I gotta say though, for all of Telltale's shortcomings, they're still really really good at making engaging characters. Probably the best in videogames still

I'm not playing if Mira isn't in Season 2. It's basically confirmed we're ditching the forresters for season 2 save for Gared. |

Damn, that was brutal. I can't believe that fat shit Ludd got away.
I played with cunning strategy apparently!
One thing became apparent in this episode: Ser Royland is the best sentinel.
I am curious what happens if you call off the ambush/poison attempt and agree to marry Gywn. Do things just go to shit a different way? |

ya I read that if you do that, then your mother decides to try to poison Ludd anyway. It's p silly. Like I know all Telltale games are guilty of these kinds of things to some extent, but it seems like GOT is their worst game when it comes to player agency (even if it's just perceived agency) |

I just noticed I completely forgot to do writeups this summer for Episodes 4 and 5, oh well. Maybe I'll do a big write-up soon for the last 3 episodes.
Just finished Episode 6 tonight. Did it in one sitting, but I was struggling to find a good chunk of time to play it especially with the Fallout 4 release.
|
I was in the minority in that Asher died for me at the end of Episode 5. I truly think it made more sense for both of them and the family to have Rodrick back to lead. I would love to do another playthrough of the last two episodes to see the different storylines.
Regarding Season 2, do we know if the entire story will continue to focus on the family? I think they could easily have the main characters be Gared, Beshka (we all want it), and Talia and Ryon if there's a slight time jump.
Too much is up in the air regarding Asher/Rodrick, that I wouldn't be surprised seeing them fail to be saved when found by Talia and your Sentinel.
Re: Mira. I saved her to keep with her deceitful storyline that I was playing up in Kings Landing. I'm heartbroken to hear that she was killed if you chose not to go along with the marriage. The only reason I agreed was because I was looking forward to betraying him the first chance I got (which I had assumed would be Season 2, but now that seems impossible). |
Overall, I loved the game. The extra long wait for Episode 6 really screwed with things, imo. It was hard to remember minor details and decisions from previous episodes. I didn't have that problem going into Episodes 2-5, but that's my only complaint regarding the ending of the game.
I love what Telltale has been able to do by expanding the universe of our favorite shows/books.
