Despite what I just said, I still don't think this "check on our democracy" is worth all the damage it's going to cause domestically and on the world stage. |
Everything will be fine. And honestly if it ends up leading to significant changes in the way we hold our representatives accountable /elect our President then it will be worth it for everything short of full on nuclear WW3.

Also that is an absolute fallacy, but the election is over so I really do not have the energy to get into that debate again. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

Honestly, I don't think Trump being president is necessarily a terrible thing, its definitely making people sit up and pay attention to how broken our election system is in this country.
I think the fact that there are so many young people active in politics and paying attention to the system i think theres a possibility we might be able to burn this whole bitch down and start rebuilding this entire broken clusterfuck. |
I actually somewhat agree with this. It reminds me of something Tim Kaine said back in February, which was, "The Trump Presidency is a 230 year check-up of our constitutional democracy."
As much as this presidency is scary and it sucks, it's making people wake the fuck up. |
This was Susan Sarandon's opinion of Trump versus Hillary, but the Hillary fans roasted her forever over it. |
That makes me hate myself. |
LOL- it shouldn't, because she was right and so are you. Nobody would be thinking for a second about "resisting" Hillary. They'd all be happy about a woman president while Hill pushed neoliberal policies, leading to slower degradation. Look no further than the liberals who defended Obama continuing Dubya's domestic spy programs, all because they were used to going against whatever complaint conservatives popped out.
We *need* an extreme reaction to fix things, and Trump is delivering the ability to take this extreme reaction.

Well said.
Unfortunately, I think the 2 party system will keep the focus on "us vs. them" instead of "how can we all make sure this doesn't happen again"

I'm glad the repeal and replace failed. I'm equally glad that the pubbies are hamstringing the hybrid POS to make sure it dies. The climate will be ripe to go all in instead of half assing it for profit like the obama dems did.

That one doesn't surprise me. The head shaker is the other article where he is looking into pardoning himself in advance.

I do apologize for using a source that ranks up there with the national enquirer.
