Cheers to Cactus, Buffy and dr for sending me new av's
Cactus sent me a picture of this lady:
A quick google search revealed that she was called Phyllis Stalnaker and that this was part of a mugshot which described her as a weedhead and a tramp
DR sent my fav, a beautiful drawing of Malik Obama.
But Buffy was in first, with a picture of Elizabath Warren. A deal is a deal!

I really don't like soccer but I can admit that the best athletes in the world play it. It's a lot tougher to play than most people think. |

Wait, Rugby is below soccer in terms of difficulty. The fuck?
I'd put it up there with NFL, particularly if talking about Rugby League.
Also, to put my two cents in on this subject, soccer is not a difficult sport. That is part of it's appeal.

Also, could someone enlighten as to why Americans call NFL Football?
It is a game which has lot's of similarities with Rugby and almost none with actual football. This has always puzzled me!

So when people say it's weird that the U.S. calls it "soccer," they only do so because the term was invented in Europe, and was the original term for the sport before it became just "football". In short, American football is known as such because of it's similarity to rugby football. |

Thank you Curt for googling that so I didn't have to.
Srsly though, I've always wanted to know the answer to that question. I always assumed soccer was an 'merican term. Now I want to know what the fuck soccer means

A recent paper by University of Michigan professor Stefan Szymanski says the Brits are partly to blame. |

Well!
So apparently when football first became popular they called it 'Association Football'
But association football was too long and formal a name so they decided to abbreviate it to something catchy. Instead of doing the obvious and just calling it football, they settled on 'soccer' instead.
After a short while everybody realized that this was a shit idea and they did what should have done to start with, and called it football.
I...I grew up my whole life believing soccer was a term invented by arrogant Americans. This is a shock to the system. Genuinely triggered ryte now

So this whole time when soccer fans snobbishly condemn Americans for calling American football 'football'...it was actually Europeans at fault????????

I'm going to do what I assume many fellow Europeans do when faced with this ugly truth; Purge it from my memory and go back to blaming the Americans.
