But yeah, the funny thing is that a nation of 300,000 people is up there, above the Netherlands, which is normally a top 3 team in Europe or even the world.

Real football: Run constantly for 45 min at a time, hardly ever stopping.
American football: Stop every two seconds, barely ever run.
Unless you're in the offensive unit, American football is all strength and very little athleticism. Even the offense really doesn't have to run THAT much at a time.
There's no competition between soccer and American football when it comes to athleticism. Aussie rules football, on the other hand, is another story.

I really don't like soccer but I can admit that the best athletes in the world play it. It's a lot tougher to play than most people think.

That's only the athleticism part though (which I'd still argue. American football players are physical freaks). The technical and smart part applies way more to football than soccer imo, there's way more for a player to think about

I think you're probably right about there being more to think about in American football, though in terms of offense I always just thought of football as chess, with the coach and quarterback being the masters and the rest of the players being the pieces, but I guess on defense there's a lot to think about because you have to anticipate the plays, etc. In soccer, it's all about spacing and anticipating where the ball is going to go, but it's more straightforward in terms of knowing what player to cover and stuff.
TLDR; Both sports require different kinds of thinking | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

I've actually heard of Lebron James.
As far as Soccer (football) is concerned, it's a big deal over here and is basically considered the sports of all sports, so this conversation about "real football" feels a bit strange.
I know someone from Italy, and everytime their team play a big game everyone gets to leave work early in time to see the game. It's basically a religion down there lol
