Igor didn't you not vote?

Irrelevant to the convo.

It's relevant to claiming you supported Bernie when voting is the minimum to doing so.

It's completely illogical to blame an election loss on a primary challenger, is what I'm taking away from this mini-debate. I feel like competitive primaries are crucial to a healthy democracy in a two-party system.

Clinton lost. We can blame Bernie or Bernie voters or BernieBros or the myriad other names Clinton-voters came up with for Bernie supporters (which served only to turn them off even more to their candidate). Or we can realize she was a weak candidate, understand why she was weak, and work to fix it. Blaming anyone but Clinton for the loss is a prescription for more losses.

I also blame the DNC for sabotaging Bernie's campaign.

Bernie didn't divide the party, the DNC did when they shoved Hillary down our throats and refused to accept that she was not the right candidate.

Yeah.

I blame the 39.8 percent of eligible voters that decided to not cast votes in the election. Trump became president on the votes of ~27% of the voting eligible public.

That's one thing I definitely applaud the Republicans for: they know how to get people out to vote, especially in mid-term elections.

Here's another fun quote talking about the "birther" issue being brought up by Clinton fans after Clinton conceded:

Quote
Clinton conceded the race on June 7, and three days later a website called Pumaparty.com (an acroynom for Party Unity My A--) encouraged Clinton backers to support Republican nominee Sen. John McCain.

The website promoted the theory with an email that read, "Obama May Be Illegal to Be Elected President," as Daily Beast editor John Avlon has documented.

According to Avlon, Linda Starr, a Clinton volunteer in Texas, was key to spreading the rumor. She connected with with Philip Berger, an attorney and Clinton supporter, who sued to block Obama’s nomination. The suit was thrown out.

Oh, like the person who started this debate in this thread. (I know Indiana would go red anyway because our electoral system is flawed, but still).

I feel like this has moved from how Hillary lost to why Trump won...and those two things are different, IMO.

My current state (Arkansas) was projected to be the Reddest state (even more so than Wyoming, which is really tough) in the last election, and I still went out and voted.

Sometimes, in situations like that, while you know your presidential vote essentially doesn't count, the votes for all the other positions still do count, and can be even more powerful. Then again, I have some of the dumbest Reps and Senators in Congress, so...yeah.

Hillary lost because she didn't openly lie to all her constituents, telling them exactly what they wanted to hear, then not doing anything about those promises.

LEL implying that one vote will ever influence an election is ridiculous. There is no logical argument for voting in a presidential election. The only argument is emotional/symbolic

And my state always goes blue. I knew Hillary was projected to win the nomination in my constituency and my state and I still went out and voted for Bernie. And voted Hillary in the general even though I knew my state would go blue.

I just look at not voting as a complete slap in the face to everyone in American history who fought and even risked their lives for the right to vote, and also all those across the world who wish they had a voice. Regardless of one's feelings on the flaws in our electoral system, voting is still important. It makes a huge difference in local and state elections especially.

Having Winner Takes All for the election and not having it a holiday means that voter turnout will never be high.
