Ehhh it was aight
My first Mario Bava movie. This was obviously was very influential on Argento and all of Giallo but I just think Argento perfected it so this was tough to watch in comparison. I think SCREAM owes a lot to this movie actually, this was like Italian Scream. Down to the main suspects being held in jail and an accomplice covering for them by killing. Felt eerily similar at times
I actually found it a little confusing, I kept forgetting who people were. I didn't even know who the male murderer was when he was revealed, I was like who tf is this guy. A lot of the characters that I did start to keep track of got lost by the wayside by the end
I did love how brutal the kills were, especially that first one. That was ROUGH! She got so banged up
Shoutout to the suuuuuper goofy but funny opening credits with every possible cast member posing in a frozen state with that snazzy music playing over them. There were so many fucking people, I kinda loved it
★★½ mixed feelings/flawed but fine/some good ideas
Killer - Crime & Giallo
Inferno vs. Opera vs. Blood and Black Lace
Argento vs Argento vs Bava and the winner is..........both Argentos! All of these Giallo movies we've watched lately really blend for me, it's so hard to tell them all apart outside of Giallo GOAT Suspiria. But I do remember just enough about Inferno and Opera to know that I liked it a bit more than this. I'm going Opera then Inferno then Black Lace

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. GJ Cronenberg! You broke even with me at 2 good and 2 shit!
It was pretty bonkers overall. The kids looked odd, the body horror was uncomfortable as expected, that EGG sack was nasty, the whole plot was a bit insane. But it all somehow worked
Probably my favorite finale so far. It was a brilliantly tense scene. I ended up rooting for the asshole psychiatrist even though you knew he was toast. Still super tense to watch the kids slowly perk up and start to turn on him as they got more and more angry
And that SCORE! The one and only HOWARD SHORE! LOTR baybeeeeee
★★★½ very good/well executed
Misc - Creepy Kid: We Need to Talk about Kevin vs. Pet Sematary vs. The Brood
Pet Sematary is the easy third place, I didnt like it very much. The other two are both a 7 for me. Tough luck for The Brood but I gotta give first place to Kevin, which means 2018 ties it up

I did not like this movie! Not one bit
I disrespected it by watching it in small chunks throughout two days and I do not regret it. I don't think I wouldv'e liked it an ounce more if I watched it straight through like I should've
I thought it was terribly boring and pointless. I didn't care about anything at any point. I thought it had potential when it started as a very Let the Right One In vampire type plot with someone watching after the vampire/cannibal but nothing interesting or new came out of that
I'm not familiar with Vincent Gallo other than I know he's supposedly a massive piece of shit. I didn't like him in this
My first Claire Denis movie, yikes!
I liked when the girl murdered the guy who broke in, that was brutal. Maybe the only part of the movie that did anything for me
Bad bad bad
★★ disappointing/uninteresting
Misc - French Extremity: Sheitan vs. Inside vs. Trouble Every Day
Oh hey, I was gonna make a comment about how the girl in Trouble Every Day sure has made a career out of being soaked in blood between this and Inside, and here we are! Trouble Every Day gets nothing. Inside and Sheitan were both fine, average movies. I gave the slight edge to Inside last year and it still holds up against Sheitan today...slightly
These scores are neck and neck and neck still

I fell behind a bit lately, I'm a lil off track. 13 movies left, how perfect. Goal is to finish by Halloween
I was really looking forward to Night House but it looks like it won't be released on time to watch by Halloween. We're replacing it with a movie called IMAGES. Ty for your time |
Back on track just like that, 9 left for the remainder of October. Ezzzzz

I can’t watch with others! It ruins the experience. Unless it’s comedy horror or a movie we know is gonna be bad
