It's been a while since I updated you all on what I've been up to. The last year has been an interesting one. I started working at Aldi back in December. Juggling gigging, recording and writing with a job that has verged on full time on occasions has been difficult. Now that I am settled there and the management know what days I need off, things have gotten easier.
In terms of what I'm doing musically right now: Still gigging, and pushing for a lot more work next year. One big change is that I have been gravitating more towards production for other artists. It's a good source of income and also very fun. I worked with a 5 piece band called Goodnight Vincent throughout July, producing an EP with them. They recorded it at my home studio and I mixed and mastered it for them. I also contributed a fair bit of electric guitar and other instruments to each song. It was a great experience for me and I will be applying many of the lessons learnt to my next original album.
Speaking of which, new music is in the works, but it will take a lot longer than my previous releases. I want to take my time and get things sounding exactly how I want them. I'm proud of my bands previous releases but the production was never really hit the level I was aiming for. Mostly because I didn't have the know how at the time. I expect to raise the bar significantly next time.
If you want to listen to the band I produced, here is the debut single from their EP.
