I think there's almost no way that Mad Queen isn't part of the book's ending, 'smaller' stuff like Varys' and Jaime/Cersei's fates is debatable, but that kind of story beat seems like something that GRRM would already have in mind and feels very very ASOIAF. And like others have said, it's an interesting idea in a VACUUM, it's just that they rushed something in like 2 episodes that should've taken a whole season of set-up

What surprised me the most this episode was that Dany still had ships.
Hadn't big dick Jack Sparrow already sank like 10,000 of her ships? Where the hell do they come from? |
tbf Euron's ships also materialized out of nowhere earlier on, apparently they had the resources on the Iron Islands to build an entire fleet overnight

My headcanon is that her ships are made of unsullied and dothraki, when she needs ships she makes some out of them and vice versa

Pacing has ruined everything for me the last couple of seasons.

Holy shit that was atrocious. What the fuck.
How do you spend 8 years building Dany as a character and then in an instant have her go crazy and burn an entire city to the ground becuz bells or some shit.
Why did those supersonic Ballistas suddenly become useless? In the last episode episode they were lethal weapons that could take down a dragon...In this episode Drogon single-handedly destroyed them all. Why did Dany need an army at all when Drogon alone managed to burn King's Landing to the ground?
Why do D&D insult their audience like this? Fuck them and fuck this show.
Honestly, it's incredible what they have achieved. I watched several major characters die this episode and I felt nothing at all. I do not care anymore.
After the Night King's tragic demise, they set up Cersei as the main villain. But all she did when it came to the big showdown was stand on a balcony.
I also found it jarring the way they seemed to be setting up this final battle as a very evenly matched affair in the last episode, but by this ep all of a sudden it was a given that Dany was going to win and Cersei & Co were deluded.
Meh. Everything about this episode was wrong. Nevermind this episode, this entire season. I mean, this show hasn't been right since Season 5, but it's never been as bad as it is now.
The ultimate message of Game Of Thrones appears to be: Women are crazy man
The few positives from this ep:
- Qyburn strolling up to Cersei and saying "I don't think it's safe here anymore" as the camera pans down to show the entire city ablaze. I lol'd.
- Cleganebowl was very funny. For all the wrong reasons

I deffo agree that Dany is going to go full on Mad Queen in the books too.
I wouldn't be surprised if the end of all the character arcs in the show are pretty close to what GRRM intends. I do think they are being accurate in that sense.
But it's the journey that gets them to this point that matters most of all. D&D have decided to skip the journey.

I feel sorry for D&D tbh. The first four seasons were probably the best adaptation anyone could ask for, imo.
It must have been very difficult when they overtook the books, to have to come up with their own ideas on how to progress with these characters whilst maintaining GRRM's vision for them, all the while trying to untangle a knot that has kept Martin himself from progressing with the books.
I'd really like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they tried their best...

I think D&D literally gave Dany Hysteria, since Jon could have fucked her madness away.

Lol, it just felt like she would be the one to sit on the throne and come out as **the true** Protagonist in the end.
She was the one true dragon, walking in fire etc, so I didn't expect her to become evil. But the last few episodes had me worried.

I guess the vision she had at the end of Season 2 with the throne covered in snow actually meant a throne covered in ash.
