ugh the scariest thing to me is the narrative that the "mainstream media" is untrustworthy or whatever, and any piece of news that calls out lies or false information is labeled "biased". This is how bad things can happen in a democratic society. It seems the people who are most protective of the first amendment are the ones who are quick to follow along with demonization of the press.

Well there's only a few conglomerates that own all the mainstream media, and they're definitely pushing their agenda.

I wonder how long it will take until there's only one left.

athenian democracy was p much the exact opposite of pure, by any definition.

and that's even if we ignore the bit about slaves lassoing the market with a red rope to forcibly herd enough reps into the pynx.

It was still "pure" for a very limited group. xD
Apparently, I underestimated the "citizenship" definition and some other details, but I meant direct democracy.

So... Swiss cantons?
