It gets better!
All I'm sayin. All I'm sayin. |
Yeah I have a feeling it will, it has a pretty good setup for a good show. |
I think it takes til about episode 3 or 4 to hook you. | |

It was a mistake!
|
I finished Season 3. I never thought George killed Hannah and I still don't think it was Daniel. It had to be Trey, but maybe that's too easy. I'm afraid they'll never tell us for sure, though. It seems the most logical that George killed himself over the guilt of his lie about Daniel. Putting an innocent man behind bars for 20 years. But, why would Trey cover up the suicide if it was just about the rape?
Anyway, I don't feel bad about the Senator, really. I'm on Jon's side here. It gives me satisfaction to know that the Senator was doing all these crooked things to further his political career and now none of that evens matters anymore. I hope he has termites, too.
And, yeah Teddy Jr. is human. But he's still empty and selfish. At some point you have to take responsibility even though bad things happened to you in your life. Just because he doesn't hit his wife doesn't mean he's not a jerk. The stalking thing is on the verge of abuse imo. At least it's about control. But okay, he's human.
I'm sad Daniel has to leave but he needs to get on with his life, so hopefully it helps him. I loved the beach scene with the little boy and the weird donut scene with Amantha in the middle of Daniel and the mom. Also, the pool party was fun. All the "good people" together lol. I'm being simplistic but I still like the show.
Oh, also, I really like the Sheriff, but I kind of knew he was going to turn out to be a good guy when he went after Daniel's attackers. I like that he really wants to figure out the truth. |

Finally got around to finishing the season. STRONG finale after what was an overall subpar season of the show to me
LOOOOOVED that we got another Kerwin scene. And the therapist scene where Daniel recounts his execution day was pretty emotional
Also was happy that we got one last Daniel/Tawny scene, even if it was just over the phone. It was short, sweet, and simple, but still might've been my favorite moment
Also liked the daydream at the beginning of the episode. What a powerful way to start it
Not sure I loved the choice for the final scene/shot, but eh. It was still pretty good. Kind of a callback to the first episode with Daniel in the field (at least I think there was a scene like that? Been a while) but this time there's actual people there to be with him as he starts his life over
Was "ooooh, monkey bread!!!!" Jared's last line of the show? How fitting if so |

First I gotta say that Clayne Crawford really crushed it. Aden Young is effortlessly incredible and its so dumb that he's never nominated for anything major, but Teddy NEARLY stole the show from Daniel from time to time and its because of Crawford. I don't think I've ever gone so 180 on a character ever |
|
|
Part of why I think Critics' Choice is currently the best awards show for TV. They're not only the only awards to give Rectify a Best Drama nom, but they've also given Abigail Spencer, Aden Young, and Clayne Crawford nominations
But yeah, I agree. I also think the writing for Teddy has been amazing and he might even be the strongest character in a show that's stocked with great characters. What started as what seemed to be nothing more than an antagonist quickly developed into a really layered and understandable character. If you think about Daniel/Teddy's scenes in S1 and compare it to the phone call in the finale, it's impressive that that scene could feel as organic and earned as it was |

I finished it and I'm so sad that there'll never be anything as good to watch...ever.
|
I probably should've posted by episode but I couldn't stop watching.
I get what you (Curtis & Boc) are saying about Teddy Jr. How his character evolved, etc. I just couldn't get into it because I continued to dislike him so much but yeah, I guess he redeemed himself. Okay, called that shot - I knew he was going to go get his gun to take out the blow-up man.
Daniel was always the star for me, though. I loved his character so much, and it made the show for me. Not that there weren't some other amazing characters but he was so great. The way he went from depressed, not talking, to finally getting himself together, or trying to. I almost got a little annoyed with him in the beginning when he refused to talk but not for long. The dance with Chloe was so amazing. I loved how he could go from so depressed to being so darn cute and funny. Yes, i said darn. But anyway, what a great character and actor.
I was happy with the way things ended between Daniel and Tawney. Just how it should've been.
Tawney's character made sense after the information about her childhood. I understood why she would've ever married Teddy. She never had anyone that loved her that much and she needed it, but then she grew past it.
So many other great things I can't even remember - like other characters.
I was torn about the ending. In a way I think they wrapped it up in too pretty of a bow. A prosecutor would never go on TV and say what she (forgot her name) said if they had all the evidence to support Daniel's innocence - let alone just having what she had. I wished that would have either wrapped up more completely or she wouldn't have made that statement, I guess. But on the other hand, glad it gave us a firm conclusion.
Anyway, great show. Thanks again, Curt! |

Finished episode 7 of season 2 yesterday, might finish season 2 tonight.
|
The show continues to slowly get better, acting and dialog is superb.
Still think Daniel's probably innocent.
So far the only character development of note has been Ted's, and the only thing I'm wondering (other than if Daniel did it ) is what Ted is going to do next.
He and Kerwin have been the best characters so far IMO.
I loved the scenes with Danield and the couple that took a picture with him and when he talks with the older women, hoping there's more scenes like that.
Also like the random subtle humor.
The cycle of character introduction, character does shit, you get to know that character better and see that said character is just a person is getting pretty overused,
they've done that with almost everyone so they keep introducing new ones.
Waiting for an episode that shows the sociopath neighbor on death row as a fellow human bean. That might be a couple of really good scenes.
Does Daniel have some kind of superhuman healing abilities? He was nearly beaten to death, 3 days later he's home and a couple of weeks(? hard to tell how quickly time passes in this show) after that he's fully healed.
Bugged me a little.

Oh god watching the second to last episode now and I just know I'm going to have a meltdown during the finale.
The character development in this show is miles above anything I've ever seen. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |
