I think it's important going into this movie having seen both BB and TDK recently... because it offhandedly references both of these movies and sometimes I found myself trying to recall things because I haven't seen BB in maybe a couple of years... though the fact that it was so late in the night that I was watching it too I guess.
batman has always been my favorite comic. I think I'm the opposite to you in this regard.
I love the whole grim/noir angle also.
I've never really been too big on that either but there are exceptions I suppose. It depends how naturally they want to try and push it really. Nolan has done a good job with the series because for the first time ever I'm actually interested in Batman.
yeah me too. that's why I LOVED the first movie. still the darkest of them all! classic! best batman movie. period!
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
Yeah Batman Begins felt more Batman like. Plus Gotham as a whole looked more like Gotham in Begins than in Dark Knight. I hope that atmosphere is brought back in DKR cause it felt too much like a generic city like Chicago etc.
Wow. That was great. Not as good as TDK but I didn't expect it to be. TDK > TDKR > BB, but they're all pretty close

I reeeally liked how they had Bane break Batman's back just like in the comics. Wasn't expecting that since Bane wasn't the same ridiculously bulky character, but I'm very glad they kept that in. Bane was certainly no JOAKER, but I thought he was still a pretty good villain. I did have some trouble understanding some of what he said though
Oh and the SCARECROW CAMEO was so awesome. As was seeing Carcetti and Bunny (:
Catwoman was pretty good but I feel like she got kinda underused tbh. Especially for a character that was so crucial to the ending. I've never seen Batman Returns so I'm not sure how she holds up to Pfeiffer's (though I'm sure they're completely different characters anyway) but I feel like Hathaway definitely held her own
The ONE MAJOR GRIPE I had with the movie is neither Bruce's romance with Miranda or Selina felt natural at all. They both felt very rushed and forced, ESPECIALLY the relationship with Miranda. Also, I feel like Bruce recovered from his broken back a little TOO quickly. This movie may have been ~3 hours but there was so much going on I feel like they could've made it at least 3.5 to give it more room to BREATHE.
The Robin thing caught me totally by surprise. NOT SURE how I feel about that tbh. It's kind of weird how he's named Robin but really he's just the next Batman since he's not a sidekick to anyone. I'm just glad Robin didn't play an active role in any of the movies, I'm FINE with them leaving him as part of an open-ended conclusion
I really hope no one continues this. There's definitely potential to but I feel like it gave very good closure to the whole story. There was some open-endedness of course but it's better to leave that to our imagination
my thoughts always include big time spoilers...oh wheeeee

I thought it was amazing. You can't really compare it to the Dark Knight because it reminded me nothing of that. I liked the twist at the end and it was totally unexpected but I think was explained well. I also thought I would of been a lot more pissed at Bruce survivng in the end but I wasn't because it wasn't some miracle act of God that saved him (i.e. Avengers) it was him fixing the auto pilot.
A lot different feel that the Dark Knight I also feel that this one was a lot slower but overall I feel it was just as good and want to see it again.
"So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"
Before the movie I was really hoping Batman would die because I usually prefer darker endings but when it actually appeared to happen I was left feeling a little EMPTY. I actually really liked how it ended.
And it's such silly shit that a bunch of people are theorizing that Alfred is having a DREAM/HALLUCINATION at the restaurant. THIS ISN'T INCEPTION
I am the say way about my endings. I hated how iron man came back in avengers and thought i would be the same way with Batman. But I am kind of releaved he survived. I know Nolan said no more dark knight films but maybe a robin spin off in the future.
