Finally grinded up to Plat tonight. I'm enjoying this season for some reason. Trying to stay more positive overall. Getting to Plat was pretty easy, though long. Not sure if I'll try for Diamond or not. I'm basically healing or playing Zar in most games though. The only game I lost tonight, the Zarya was atrocious.
Leavers and the occasional toxic teammate are definitely the downsides of competitive, but the good is worth putting up with the bad for me. And after playing it for quite a while I really can't go back to QP anymore. It almost feels POINTLESS cuz the stakes are removed, which makes the matches less intense and the comps worse (like getting a healer is a lot more rare)
I wish they had a better matchmaking system or something for QP and arcade. I end up playing people way above my level.
They need some minimum requirement or something for QP, but then people wouldn't be free to play who they want. I agree it feels pointless at times.
Usually I pick a dps and get followed by 4 more. Playing a tank sucks because no one is healing, so I usually get stuck playing healer because I still care about winning and getting loot boxes (in arcade)
That's fair, though nothing has felt more pointless to me than having to sit through a few rounds of a game while down 6-5 with no chance of a replacement
tbf if they don't come back within a couple minutes it lets you leave, you still lose the SR (like a normal loss) unfortunately but it doesn't give you the leaver penalty
Though I usually don't end up leaving in those situations unless more than one person does. There's been a time or two when I've been able to at least force a draw with a 5v6 which is super satisfying (even if it's disappointing knowing you could've easily won a 6v6)
When someone leaves that tends to be when everyone switches to widow, Hanzo, Sym, etc.
I think 5v6 has the best odds of drawing/winning on a payload map if ya'll are coordinated. But on capture point and KotH, it feels almost impossible depending on if you're attack or defense on KotH
