http://imgur.com/a/4FmXh is an album (note the /a/ in the url) not an image, which is why it didn't work when you put it in image tags

see the 4FmXh in the album url? that's the id of the album. it used to be, for albums of one picture, that you could just edit the url to something like http://imgur.com/4FmXh.jpg (which is what darren tried to do). unfortunately, that no longer works.

open your album, right-click on the image and open it in a new tab (depending on your browser, you may have to copy the image url and then paste it into the address bar). it should be http://i.imgur.com/ZQM9Lrd.jpg -- see the ZQM9Lrd in the image url? that's the id of the image, which is different than the id of the album.

note that you can still do the usual tricks, given imgur's RESTful design:
-- add a 'b' before the extension to get a thumbnail: http://i.imgur.com/ZQM9Lrdb.jpg
-- change the extension in the url to change the format: http://i.imgur.com/ZQM9Lrd.png
-- etc

p.s. note that direct browsing to imgur for certain formats will redirect you to an image page, e.g. http://imgur.com/ZQM9Lrd

but if you were to embed http://i.imgur.com/ZQM9Lrd.gif, for example, it would work just fine (i.e. wouldn't redirect)
