Step 2 is obviously a joke. If you want the meat well done, you obviously can't pick out good meat in the first place.

Growing up, "steaks" in my family meant my Dad cooked Top Sirlon steaks on the grill to a beyond well done. Not only were they way overcooked, but with a leaner cut of meat, it was about the consistency of a hockey puck.

I don't think I had a "good" steak until I was in college.

If you get really lucky, you can find decent sirloin once in a while. I'm OK at picking out a decent steak, but my daughter did the FFA judging competitions, so she's better at it than I am.

She's going to make some guy (or girl) happy some day ...

I've trained my wife to look for marbling and the like.

My favorite cut to get for decent price is porterhouse (t-bone), since I get a NY strip and a filet at the same time. Plus gnawing the meat off the center bone is awesome.

I also make an awesome prime rib roast.
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?

I accidentally ordered a 22 oz New York strip the other day. It was...a lot of food.

Porterhouse is also my favorite.

When the local groceries have USDA choice porterhouse for $5.99/lb, I stock the hell up.

I'm guessing that you didn't calculate that 22oz = 1 3/8lb?

It was the "game of the day" and only like $32 and all I heard the waitress say was "New York strip with whipped potatoes and asparagus" not "22 oz New York strip with whipped potatoes and asparagus" so my friend and I were like "oh yeah! That sounds really good!"

Next thing we know the biggest cuts of meat for one person we'd ever seen show up at our table. I felt soooo bad for not finishing it because I really hate wasting meat but 22 ounces is a lot of food!

I honestly just assumed it would be like 8-11 oz. since I didn't hear her say the weight. I am smart enough too know that 22 oz. is way too much meat.
