Thoughts on long distance?

Glad to see people having different opinions on the subject. I did it once for 8 months when I first went to college and I would never do it again.

Long distance has fucked me up more than I thought it ever would and it's still effecting me horribly. The lack of closure we had is what is really killing me. Still trying to fix it because I'm an idiot.

I don't care about fixing my problem anymore because I don't need fixing, she does. I'm not some savior, I'm a human being and I just want to meet a nice girl, grow old, and yell at kids on my lawn. I don't need stress in my life from crazy girls that refuse to believe I'm who I say I am and think all men are out to get them. There are a million cute, nice girls in the world.

This. Speaking from experience. But it can get a little sad when you can't be together during holidays for whatever reason and makes you feel bad.

What do you mean by that?

I guess some context for the story... We have gone out for like a year (in the same city) and I am leaving for a job in just under a month. Long distance would be 2 years (for her to finish her degree.... she also just got a job in the industry she wants to work in) but its only an hour flight ride away (and $100 NZD flight return... so not expensive). The 2 years does assume that she will leave Wellington (where I grew up/currently live) which she loves + has this new job which she loves) but after talking to Natalie I have kinda reached the idea that a lot changes in 2 years and its pretty hard to set a solid end date so far out. I guess my concern is that we reach the end of the 2 years and she doesn't wanna leave (I personally don't think that will be the case but its something that could happen).

If she's willing to do long distance, do long distance. If you're both committed that's all that matters.

I did long distance with my ex, because of work, however almost monthly I'd return for a few days and then leave once more. Work only lasted for a year before it was over, but we managed to make it quite easy.

We lasted almost another year after that before breaking up.
