Depends on how committed / financially able you are to meet up and see her. From my experiences the time between trips decreases exponentially. Its doable. Its really hard. Not so much the trust issue I think a lot of people assume, but more so the not being able to see your girlfriend, have them be apart your major life events. But with skype and smart phones it is a lot easier than it was a decade ago.
Idk how serious that question was but those are my thoughts. I can elaborate on an aspect if it is something you are considering. My case could be different than yours, seeing as I did not originally date the girl close distance, we've always known each other or been dating long distance. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"
