I am fully aware that if one side of the political spectrum had justification to claim Carlin as one of their own, it would be the left. Guy was a raging lefty most of the time from what I've seen/read.

It was taking his line on PC without the rest of the context surrounding it. It's a favorite for right wing to pull out to try to "claim" Carlin.

And as I pointed out, Carlin's got an issue with that, since the only "censorship" comes when you don't say something because you don't want people to call you a douchebag. That's self-censorship. Nobody can make you not say it, but to say somebody else should call you a douche for saying something is denying *them* their own freedom of speech.

So, even when you deal with Carlin, just remember the words of, well, Carlin:
