I've only seen Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine. I loved Eternal Sunshine and Adaptation was pretty good. I actually OWN Malkovich, but its on VHS and around the time I got it the VCR finally gave up so I never watched it.
Should I give Synecdoche a shot? | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

It doesn't really have a cohesive plot that I remember. It's barely comparable to Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine or even Being John Malkovich tbh. As strange as the latter was and as purposefully disjointed as Adaptation was, they at least served to have a basic identifiable premise.
I suppose Synecdoche technically does, but it's more like a series of events to make some kind of grandiose point that I feel never gets made and gets put across fairly poorly in its attempts.

I remember almost nothing about Adaptation and I didn't watch it very long ago. I'd have to watch again

I think Synecdoche's comparable to Adaptation tbh, just a lot GRANDER in scale. But its ideas are so big that it does get a bit unfocused and like Paul said not everything is conveyed as well as it could be, which is why I'd rank Adaptation slightly higher. You should give it a shot though!

I didn't really get the same feeling from the two movies. Adaptation was pretty sure of itself in terms of what it wanted to be. Synecdoche was just wut.

The Place Beyond the Pines
I wound up watching it twice last night when I was trying to go to sleep. The first time I turned it on it was already a little over forty minutes in and by the end I really wanted to see the beginning. So I waited for it come on HBOW and I kept watching during the second airing even after passing the stuff I hadn't seen to get the full experience.
I thought it was really good. It felt like three different movies intertwined together. Very much enjoyed it all, but maybe the first two acts more than the third. I've never seen anything Bradley Cooper has been in (that I remember) other than The Hangover, so he surprised me.
8 out of 10, perfect movie.

I love that movie. I listened to the soundtrack as the Lab3 finale was going up and it was so perfect with it

Adaptation is one of my favorite movies ever, and I think it and Synecdoche have a lot in common. But Adaptation (and its bridging of REALITY and FICTION) was very controlled, in comparison. That may have been the point of Synecdoche, where Caden totally LOSES control over everything in his life, but it made for a weird experience that I kind of needed an ANCHOR for. It felt like the logical thematic conclusion of everything Adaptation was doing. But it also felt like Click with a good performance at its center, i dunno i need to mull it over

It seems I am watching Anaconda. I left Syfy on in the background and heard lines that made me go "Is this Anaconda? Am I watching Anaconda?" and lo and behold there is Anaconda.

The Terminal - 8/10
Halfway through a rewatch. I'd seen it already though. I think 'it's really underrated.

Has anyone seen the Lego movie. I hear it's fantastic. My friend said it was the best animated movie since Toy Story 3 and possibly even better than it

"It was perfect.
Something to laugh at every 30 seconds, subtle background stuff everywhere, callbacks to classic sets, basically everything I could ever hope for in a Lego-based movie.
The detail is insane.
If you're interested in seeing it, skip all the spoilers online and just go. Highly recommend it."

DAMN! Great reviews
And yeah I heard there's a ton of stuff going on in the frame at times and it makes you really want to see it again. Sounds really good
