Fortunately, there are no late fees at the moment and this scumbag debt company is slightly nice enough to have a 5 month payment plan option. This is gonna cut into my impulsive shopping budget though. |
Too bad it got to a debt collector ... typically you can send hospitals anything (so long as it's monthly) and they won't complain. |
Yeah, although it hasn't shown up on my report yet so maybe they're just waiting? This was for the EMS people rather than the actual hospital (although one of the hospital bills did go to collections, but I'll have that and the other hospital bill paid off in a few months), but since I never got the bill from my mom and they never tried to call me, I didn't know it was a thing. | |

Make sure insurance is involved. I had a similar problem where the hospital had my wrong address and thus wrong insurance until the debt collectors finally found me and I was like "I never got the notice and it is your fault" and they had to jump through hoops to handle.
Also, it will make sure that you get any reduction in price that would have come with insurance *even* if you don't get insurance to pay for it. | | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |
