working on my resume now, it's been a while since i've needed it. my friend sent hers over so that i could look at it and see how to maybe model mine, but hers is like 3 pages long. i was always taught it shouldn't be more than 1 or so. she has like 8 or 9 bullet points for stuff she does at each job. is that normal? should i aim for that?

here's how I like it:

Basic contact info: name, phone number, email

Education: highest degree first, major/minor (if any) GPA, relevant coursework summarized in bullet points

Relevant Work Experience: highest job title, quick couple bullet summary of relevant experience

Outside interests (optional): This is actually a good way to catch interviewers' attention. It's not necessary, but if you have unusual hobbies or one's that might attract discussion, it can be fun to put in. This is that great place to put the "I set up a soccer league for underprivileged youth!" note.

Skills: Focus on stuff relevant to job. Your base resume should have all your programming/MS office and stuff on there, and you just delete what isn't relevant to what you are applying for.



This should all easily fit on one page. The skills at the bottom attracts the attention of people who just scan the document, since it is the last thing they glance at.

I'm afraid to admit that I would only fill up half a page with my resume' .. and that's after using double-spacing ... and 16 point font ....

My current Curriculum Vitae (the academic version of the resume) is ~6 pages long. I had to do a 1-page resume for a job application about a year ago, and I had no clue what to take out. It was a pain.

Take out all the academic papers first, of course, outside of the specific ones that applied to the job.

And folks here call it a CV as well, especially my Euro colleagues.

I think it depends on your weight and how often you take it, but I think the bottle says no more than 4 max since it can fuck up your stomach lining and stuff.
