Iron Man 3: Iron Man Block Party
Well it sure was a super hero movie. I guess I should have seen Iron Man 2 or maybe just The Avengers before seeing this one, but thanks to having seen Die Hard: With a Vengeance I felt confident I could understand what was going on. Could have used more twist, as most movies could. And more Paltrow in a sports bra.
A flaccid 5 - erect 6 out of 10, perfect movie.

Project X
Cloverfield with a scarier "monster." I really did not like it up until the ten or so minutes when everything really went crazy and the guy with the flamethrower showed up. I really popped for that guy torching the neighborhood while demanding his XTC filled lawn gnome back. It was almost worth putting up with an hour and twenty minutes of teenagers partying just for that scene.
10 out of 10, perfect flamethrower scene.

Lone Survivor
Really good actually. This movie was pretty BRUTAL! Each bullet hit made me cringe a bit. Not because EW BLOOD but because of how real it seemed. The four guys were just so battered. And the scenes where they rolled/fell down the mountain sides were especially brutal. Those scenes were really, really well done. There were some pretty intense/suspenseful moments too
Also Vernon saying it's not worth seeing in theaters unless you've done military service makes no sense to me

Movie suggestions for a 16,15,14,12 y/o that I could snag from Redbox for this evening? | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

Definitely. We need this new generation comfortable with the idea of giant robots so that they will be ready to fight the kaiju in a decade.

Saw Frozen yesterday, it was meh, and too many musical parts in the beginning. 4/10
The short film on Mickey Mouse at the beginning was top notch though. |
Lol a musical with musical parts? God forbid.
|
I know it's a bit late but I had no clue it was going to be a musical, I came in for a regular 'kind of for kids' movie, not 'glee - the animation'.
| I used to travel the universe, but settled for parks.

Synecdoche, New York - HM. I certainly enjoyed WATCHING it, especially as it got weirder and more abstract, but I think the lack of a THROUGHLINE (where Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine are very focused) kept it from being as emotionally involving as the other two Kaufman-written movies I've seen. And the more I think about it the more I feel like my initial interpretation of its meaning is too simplistic. GONNA TAKE SOME TIME to really unpack it
also PSH's death made some parts a lot harder than they otherwise would be

Yeah it took some time to sink in with me too. Initially I was kinda ehhh towards it but now I think I'd rank it right up there with Eternal Sunshine/Adaptation. I think it's a lot better on rewatch

I just didn't GET Synecdoche I guess...
I left the movie feeling like I'd just been anally fisted by a commune of hipsters.
